Anyone know what happened in the other grades?

Brighton won all the rest except Under-14 which was bagged by Flaggies.

Well done to Cove, deservant winners. I don't often like to praise Morphett Vale or its players but Scott Pollard has to get a mention for his effort in the last quater. Team down by many goals, visibly hampered by a crook knee but still managed to run with the flight of the ball and take a courageous mark and kick the goal.

Does anyone know what the actual crowd numbers were at Noarlunga?
Would be good to see a game between Cove and Goodwood. This may be a good annual concept, Premiers of each league plays off for a trophy and bragging rights. Could be good money spinner with half profits to each league at central location!

Great idea, just make sure we let the Southern League organise it as they seem to be far more proffessional!

Firstly, I'm going to have a winge. Where on earth were the scores in the Sunday Mail. The biggest day of the year with at least 10,000 people who have a direct interest in our league and many more thousands with a passing interest. My neighbours heard me screaming from the crapper when I discovered this on Sunday morning. BTP, you've got your finger on the pulse, what the hell happened or did the SFL Secretary Manager get caught up in the celebrations of his old club winning the flag and forget to do his job. Absolute disgrace.

Well done to Cove. Never looked like losing in an awesome display. Seemed to have quicker and stronger legs and carried the ball much better than the Emus. Its the first time I've seen all 5 games on the big day and all winners were the teams who ran and carried the ball better than their opponents on the big ground. I thought the crowd was terrific and the streaker was a highlight. They should re-name the North-Western Hill, COVE CORNER because it was packed with a sea of red, white and blue. Where are you Vics01 and Jono. Nursing hangovers no doubt.

On the Bombers and to a previous post who said we slipped this year. I think our A grade had a better year. We beat every side in the comp this season (last year we didn't beat Cove or Emus). We won one more minor round game with a tougher draw and had a much better percentage. Just so happens our worst game of the year was the Prelim. We still picked up B grade, Under 18 and Under 16 flags on Saturday. I could gloat even more and mention the Sunday 14 and Sunday 16 flags and even further with the Year 2/3 and Year 4/5 Lightning Carnival victories. Thats 7 flags out of 11 grades, so don't dismiss the Bomber Juggernaut over the next 5 years and beyond.

Well done to Cove. Clearly the better side on the day (and throughout the year) and fully deserved their victory. Your right about that hill with all the cove support. Walking in and seeing all those red, white and blue flags i thought it must have been Bastille Day!

The polly rumour to Mclaren has certainly gathered some momentum. Think he might entertain the thought but in the end will remain an emu (fingers crossed).

I attended the GSFL final on the w/end and was envious of the little things that we no longer have in our GF. The cars around the oval/BBQ'S every where and esky's in tow/ and the chance for the winning sides to have their moment doing the old lap of the oval.
On the standard of footy I would say without a dought our footy is way in front. The juniors that I have seen this year in the SFL finals would comfortably have the measure of what I witnessed on the w/end. Same for the B grade. AND as for the A grade I saw a very good Willunga but a very poor Straph. Maybe why Willunga are so far in front of any other side in the GSFL and have now won 5 in a row.

Reckon if enough people get behind it, the GF could be moved from sterile park next year? Even if the league doesn't want to take it back to Porties, SURELY there is an alternative - and forget what the SANFL says, it's not their decision. (Or if it is, it shouldn't be.)

Anyway, I think it's worth debating for next year. Seriously, South's ground is just terrible for finals footy. If IKEA built a football oval, it'd be that one.

Congrats to Cove players and supporters great win.
You definitley can't write off Morphies though they have been great over the past 5 years.
Also well done to Brighton they certainly showed they are pushing to be the next big threat along with Cove I'd say. That's alot of premierships and well deserved to all.

On another note with the Polly rumour growing momentum, Is it just me or is there going to be an obvious reason he may go there with them advertising for coaches recently.........Not many Hills down that way..... nice and flat

Think we should be hearing alot of prospects at different clubs with coaches and what not changing quite significantly.

Definitely not Malcolm's fault, DTH, he passed the details over to me and I can assure you they were promptly faxxed off to the Sunday Mail as per usual. You need to vent your fury at the Mail itself. They were sent well before the deadline of 7pm.
I was also pretty browned off about it.

Does that mean that Scott Pollard has applied for a coaching Gig at McLaren????????????????
Would be the best gig in the GSFL over the next 5 years i would reckon.

They will only go up from where they are.
You would think that their current coach would be safe as houses.

The Morphett Vale Job.....No thanks
Reynella the same, although the Mick Malthouse lookalike Linton Bishop's name has come up again.
He won't take any crap and has support from one of the committee (his mate) Grant or Brian if I recall.

Why would this be when Mclarens have advertised for a new Coach!!

No close though Mr Magoo, Read between the lines a bit more. Where is Morphett Vales coach going to? Some said he may have been going to the Great Southern just not as far as first thought it may appear. Look at the links I'd say. And agree would be a fantastic job at the Vale with the amount of juniors these guys have and great club spirit I'm sure they will not spend long at the bottom at all.

And about Troy Jacques....we wish.

Well done to Cove on the weekend, always good to see someone Knock off a team that has pretty much been a standout for five years. Would like to know who was classed as the underdog for the game, with cove knocking off the Emus this year and finishing top, or the Emus, going for five straight and all the experience??

Have there been any retirements announced from the Emus?

Rodney
Thanks for that
P.S.
The McLaren people are a bit sensative about being called the VALE.
The President othe GSFL mentioned McLaren Vale 2 or 3 times on Saturday and upset a few of the supporters.
Might even see him voted off for Tonkin.

King Kernas
As with many clubs, it is probably in the constitution that all positions have to be advertised.
You are involved what is your view??????????????????

Lets not start on the SFL website Spanner. Most key info is generally available but its poorly packaged and presented with errors everywhere. I believe the SFL have formed a sub-committee to improve and upgrade the website so hopefully this will occur before 2009.

Still not happy with scores BTP. Its always our league that seems to have no scores or some missing. For gods sake, bloody Andamooka and Olympic Dam get their scores in every week without fail. It has happened at least 4 or 5 times over last 2 seasons in SFL. If we're going to Fax them can't someone ring to guarantee they've been received and included in the copy. This was a GRAND FINAL day. I feel more sorry for the kids and their families in the juniors who would like to cut out the clipping from the paper, particularly if little Johnny has kicked goals or got best players. Grae Mckinnon does an amazing job BTP but he is not on the SFL Board either. If he wants to help compile scores and fax them off, fine, but SFL must ensure they are received and get printed especially during FINALS.
