Thanks for that
P.S.
The McLaren people are a bit sensative about being called the VALE.
The President othe GSFL mentioned McLaren Vale 2 or 3 times on Saturday and upset a few of the supporters.
Might even see him voted off for Tonkin.

As with many clubs, it is probably in the constitution that all positions have to be advertised.
You are involved what is your view??????????????????

Yes it is in the constitution, but having the results that we've had in the last two years, why would his job be safe as houses.
Surely if a very high profile person put their application in for the position, the board would be stupid not to hand the job over. I would say the same would be at any club, unless of course if you had great success.
The club is in a very vulnerable position at the moment and something needs to be done!

Anyway this argument is better suited on our thread or the GSFL one :) !

Grae MacKinnon doesn't particularly want to do it, DTH, he only faxxes them off because the League pays him for it. Pretty sure he won't be able to do it next year anyway.
League needs a better system.

Absolute disgrace.

Dont forget the web site DTH we should get the results update about November / December

SFL website would win worst football site on the net

Lets not start on the SFL website Spanner. Most key info is generally available but its poorly packaged and presented with errors everywhere. I believe the SFL have formed a sub-committee to improve and upgrade the website so hopefully this will occur before 2009.

Still not happy with scores BTP. Its always our league that seems to have no scores or some missing. For gods sake, bloody Andamooka and Olympic Dam get their scores in every week without fail. It has happened at least 4 or 5 times over last 2 seasons in SFL. If we're going to Fax them can't someone ring to guarantee they've been received and included in the copy. This was a GRAND FINAL day. I feel more sorry for the kids and their families in the juniors who would like to cut out the clipping from the paper, particularly if little Johnny has kicked goals or got best players. Grae Mckinnon does an amazing job BTP but he is not on the SFL Board either. If he wants to help compile scores and fax them off, fine, but SFL must ensure they are received and get printed especially during FINALS.

Maybe the issue here is the method of communication... FAX... didn't they go out with happy pants back in the 90's..
whats wrong with email, TXT, etc..

I missed out attending the games on sat and made the 6:30am Sunday trip to the servo to get the paper so I could read the results (DTH style) I had to cut my appointment short when I realised there was nothing printed.

anyhow well done the the all the winners, Bombers B grade finally wins 1.. and the Juniors solid as usual.
Well done to Cove, Big scalp ! been a while coming and the new yardstick.

Say who won the best on ground award? Couldn't find it anywhere and haven't heard yet.

Also well done to cove. Played the most consitent footy all year and deserved to win. Bad luck to Morphet Vale on getting your five in a row as well.

Mckinnon ?
Lets not get carried away.
The Southern Boot Program in the GF is basically a copy of last years GF Boot and every other years GF Boot. It’s filled with ads and each grades honour roll, big woop!
It’s so repetitive from last year that they even had the Tipster’s Poll from LAST YEAR.
Now that’s embarrassing and you’re charged $3 for it.

Would be good to see a game between Cove and Goodwood. This may be a good annual concept, Premiers of each league plays off for a trophy and bragging rights. Could be good money spinner with half profits to each league at central location!

Well done Cove on the win,its good to see someone else except M/Vale win it for a change. After playing div1 and watching southern and ameuter league id would say Goodwood would beat Cove by 10 goals, nothing against them but Cove would only be a good div2 or a bottom div1 side, alot higher standed in ameuter league and Goodies are the best of the best.Never played for them but id say they must pay there players ok.

DTH, yes just surfacing, big weekend for COVE. Great win by the seniors and just not quiet good enough on the day for the 18's and 14's. BDOS and Falcons Congrats. It was surprising to see that the Emu's did not fire a shot, but that could be because they were not allowed. Good to see the young blokes stand up on the day of days. Cam miller was good, Ben Cameron. Story of the day being the Cove back six stopped everything that came their way. How good are the ROO and his mate kym Ursino?
How about the Cove crowd the atmosphere on the hill was sensational as good as I have been in the middle of anywhere. It was also pleasing for the club to see then number of old Cobra;s who came out and the number of new Cobra kids that came out and bought mum and dad. Only complaint on the day being the winners of the minor grades having to go to the back of the changerooms to be presented should be done on the oval and speeches going on during the anthem. GO THE COBRA's bring season 2009 promises to be a belter, interesting how the Cobra's handle being the hunted and how the wounded Emu bounces back, leta lone the Bonbers and Vikings knocking sown the door.

Not sure i agree with your mentions there. I heard that pollard kicked 5 of the 6 emus goals on roo. Thats not a great day out. Surely theres better "stories of the day. " well done to cove tho. Deserving winners.

They will only go up from where they are.
You would think that their current coach would be safe as houses.

The Morphett Vale Job.....No thanks
Reynella the same, although the Mick Malthouse lookalike Linton Bishop's name has come up again.
He won't take any crap and has support from one of the committee (his mate) Grant or Brian if I recall.
Troy Jacques to Aldinga his home club

What are you saying Mr Magoo, that the current Mclarens A Grade coach job is safe as houses :? ??
Why would this be when Mclarens have advertised for a new Coach!!

That was huge of Cooney, gave the falcons/bushpigs a few plugs. Would do Flagstaff no harm what so ever for recruiting new player (especially youngsters) over the next season. That would be the first SFL player to win a brownlow i suspect, let alone a magarey medal.

I didnt hear the coaches speaking but in the first quater majority of mvales attack into the forward lines was coming from the scoreboard side. they kicked 3 points into the breeze while cove kicked 3 or so goals with it and i think that was the margin at 1/4 time. Either the coach for mvale is an idiot and didnt tell the players to attack from the other side or the players didnt listen???

The second 1/4 ando had his men attack from the grandstand side (not every time) but they definetly converted alot better kicking 4 or so goals to maybe one in the second. Morphies were never gonna get that back. The 3rd saw morphies attack from the grandstand side but they just didnt convert.

The wind is alot stronger out on the ground than what it is near the coaches box.. why didnt the senior players demand the ball to the other side??

Cove were better coached and played a better style of footy!
