All Australian U/23 trip to Ireland - Who is paying??

Postby The Ash Man » Thu Sep 25, 2008 11:27 pm

Heard an interesting rumour tonight from someone involved with the SAAFL U/23 side

The U/23's that were picked as All Australian had to raise their own funds to pay for the trip as we all know

I heard tonight that Mark Shadiac and Gino are also going to Ireland for the 16 day trip

Who paid for this?

did they also raise their own funds or did we as clubs pay for this?

They deserve it, it's been a long arduous season, I don't think the clubs pay enough anyway in affiliation fees.

you would hope they raised there own money, after the appauling way the saafl grand final was organised on saturday, EG Food, Beer, National Anthem (couldnt even hear it being 5 metres from the speaker) and the presentation. they should have to pay there own way and money left over put back in to strugling clubs

I am pretty sure each player had to come up with about $2000. Some of the players home clubs paid, some had fund raising day/night and some clubs didnt kick in anything for the player especially if they thought they would not be at the club next year. I think Crossy also rounded up a lot of sponsors to kick in some cash to assist the players.
I'm number 1, so why try harder!!

still why should two administrators get a free ride when the players have to bust their ar5es just to get there.

just had a look at the 2007 annual report available on the website the league posted nearly 100k profit for the year up nearly 42% on the previous year. surely the could spare some cash to the All Australian representatives

For F--k sake!
These clowns up top couldn't run a chook raffle.
Why have an All Aust U/23 trip to Ireland if the League won't pay for it? Oh no we can't afford they say. Pigs ar$e!
If they were more proffessional with the Grand Final at Theberton they would of made enough $$$$ on the one day to get them all there & back but not to be as long as shadiac & Co have their expenses paid for by the League thats their main concern.
Bloody joke!

All the Divs are paying but only selecting from Div 1 through to maybe Div 4, which is surprising as the league don't think there are any players worthy of selection from the lower sides, but their clubs are sure worth bleeding for bucks to pay for shitiac & co for a free trip!
