Had my 1st visit to Ravendale on Sat. Very swish, but brand new so it should be. Was a bit suprised to see only 70 people at the TFC players auction, & that includes all 6 from hockey!!! Seems my prediction is coming to fruition already, now that it's up and running no-one can afford to stay and support it.

Made my way down to pecker park on saturday, had to get out of the car to clean the windscreen, I thought souths had traded their strip for black and gold as Akehurst could have been mistaken for 'Springsy' Bryant and Hogan couldn't catch his elusive low blowing opponent. Once 'Judgey' Bryant started throwing hay makers it was time for me to head home for my 'spag bog'.

From all reports the panther played as full as a boot and captured his best form. Keep up the good work!

Yes, the panther was near unstoppable on Sat. Kicked 5 himself in the wet and then handed off another 4 (think the hangover kicked in at 1/2 time!!)

Good day for the Rangers at Wangary with 10's 17's, B's and A's all recording good wins.
The A's played in as dry a condition as you could get with the only rain falling during the half time break which was a big change to the earlier games when wet weather footy was the name of the game.
Also the Waybackers stayed late into the night, mixed well and all seemed to enjoy themselves at the clubrooms after the game. It is now up to us to reciprocate next round at their clubrooms - Good for footy

Very impressed witb Rangers on Saturday, and a very low point for the WFC in the senior grades.Rangers A Grade were well drilled and had far too much class for us. We were very lucky to still be in the game at half time. Rangers were so good, it was difficult to name a best....truly an "all played well" effort. For un Minya & Horgan were great all day and Rory Sheehy stood the dangerous Matt Parker (who has been in white hot form) and took the honours. Rangers by far the best side going around and we will need a minor miracle plus attitude shift if we can challenge in September. Well done to Rangers, a truly scary performance.

Do I suspect some reverse pyschology here BTB. You are the master at pumping up an opposition tyres only to deflate them in September when it really counts.
Thought you did a reasonable job on Saturday Bystander..

Rolled into the Wheaty on saturday nite for a show and one Tommy George was sitting at the bar on the gas. Looked very content. Lot warmer in the front bar then at the Gary.. Just waiting for the warm weather in Sept. Smart man..

Would be fair to say Brody Murphy was BOG on his wing. Rarely drops a mark and also has the pace and agility when the balls on the deck, kid has a bright future!! The Ranger supporters were a little antsy when the game was in the balance early but when we got on top the crowd was very quiet. We belted Waybacks in round 3 last year that counted for nothing only a few weeks later so I think the quiet crowd was a reflection on the whole mindset of the club at the moment which is focused on late September. Waybacks can certainly still challenge....

Agree WCP and don't want to be too hard on him, however his overall game would be even better if he could just improve his kicking.
Thought young Dufe was great as was Hully, Scotty and as BTB mentioned, a helluva lot of others. Ackers ruck work would have most opposing ruckmen a little worried. Has a couple of other attributes as well doesn't he.

both teams had some big outs so is hard to make an exact comparisson between us....however once again our straight kicking was what let us down....especially me and i'll be the first to admit that. Rules kicked his first point against us in two games...and it hit the post...that was the benchmark for them all day.....i kicked a couple of goals, 2 points and 1 out of bounds of the full in the last quater so could've been alot different....you get used to the different standard of umpiring up GF way but they had a shocka of a day on saturday, both teams had some crazy decisions happen....guess it was just the rain...

Quote of the week:
After standing Dom all game Damon Scott comes off the field and says to Zoomer something along the lines of 'I thought Tom George would be better than that'. Apparently Zoomer had to explain it was Dom and not Tom.

Rangers far too good. A bit concerning that a few of their better players had relatively quiet days. As mentioned previously, they have the best forward line and best backline in the competition. Their centre line is pretty handy too.
Our forward line might have become over reliant on the Slug.

Agree with BTB........rangers looked very very good especially their aggression at the ball and the player in possession, would have been a few sore red and blue boys on Sunday.

I hear Wayback U12's had their first win of the season.....emotional scenes after the final siren!!!!! Might be time to move the coach up the grades!

Ruley kicked 4 to take his tally to 68. Also did his groin, unsure how bad but will probably miss this week considering Kinlough is the week after.

Bluesy, Boags or Bish, Who from both grades didn't play for Waybacks on Saturday. Just curious to try and get some sort of reading from Saturdays results for the A's and the B's. We had the following I can think of

Mick Sargeant, Matt Harradine, Scott Charman, Todd Owen, Wade Smith, Dan Keeley, Marty Tregonning, Jacob Seifert

Wade...missing...so it makes even less sense that I hear nothing from him since he became a dad, until Saturday night's SMS gloating about the scores. When he had nothing to do with it...could bite him in the a#se.

You forgot Haje.
Mick Bilney, Duncan Moore, Travis Koch, Tom George in the A's. Could also add Brad Keast who was supposed to play but got injured in u/17's. Of our A grade team Saturday Beau Pietermann is going to Europe in 2 weeks for at least the rest of the year and Daniel Jelinek was on a permit so won't play finals.
Not to sure about B grade but from what i saw of the game you can start printing t shirts now.

WCP - only got half the info but had this conversation with BTB this morning - Realistically with people returning and remaining injury free (perhaps not so realistic) MR could expect to be in a position to consider Sargent, Charman, Keeley and hopefully Doudle and Taylor for the A's. Waybacks ins are also significant - Bilney, George, Cunningham, Moore and B Whittaker (no Schuppan)
Everybody can read into that what they will.
One thing is for sure - you can expect a hell of a match if they are all available and how strong will that make their respectibe B sides with the unlucky ones that miss out on the A's
