Adelaide v Geelong

Talk on the national game

Postby giffo » Mon Jul 03, 2006 9:52 pm

I also went to my first AFL game of the year and could not believe the number of people with know idea about their own players. All I heard all game was "who's number x?" or even better was when Ivan Maric came on, one old duck asked "is that Knights?" :? Please Adelaide, spend some of your money providing free Records for your followers, they can't be called supporters. I was also amazed by how many where leaving 20 mins into the last 1/4. These people have no idea. Even funnier was when I heard one suggest Geelong where trying to get rough with Adelaide. "Get rough", obviously never seen the Gowans boys in action then. :)

Guys if you think the Adelaide crowd is un-educated come to Sydney

Bottom line is WHO CARES, do we all need to be so-called experts, the answer is no, when the Crows joined the comp, they were able to bring people to our great game who had never followed footy before, is that such a bad thing, if we don't win over new markets our game will die, I'm sure the Power would love 10,000 new members, even if they are new to our great game.

My wonderful partner is European, been living in Sydney for 6 yrs, never followed AFL until she met me, now she loves the game and the crows, as long as people are cheering, watching the game in good spirits, who cares how much they know....

Sydney and Brisbane crowds are too un-educated, but we have been able to penertrate a new market, this is why our game is growing and peoples knowledge will grow with the game

Go to Victoria, they don't know any rules other then BALL, BALL, BALL, they are shockers........

Who cares how educated the crowds are, as long as they enjoy the day in the right spirit and I hope oour great game keeps bringing new fans through the gate

mate

whether we like it or not that's footy, actually thats sport, if we only ever got an educated crowd, there would only be a half filled stadiums......

personally I rather supporters at the game who may not know every player, but they cheer hard, haves fun, and watch the game in the right spirit, THEN tools who may know something about the game but do not support the game in the right spirit and are out of control.....

my long winded point is.... i keep reading how uneducated some crows supporters are.. who cares as long as they support the team and game in the right spirit

I read this morning that Wallace has had a crack at Collingwood supporters, appartently Newman was heckled as he was taken from the field, if this is the case, it's poor form, in all my years at AAMI I dont think I have heard anyone booed when being carried off the ground

And the Vics call AAMI Mooron Park....... Hello

And these hard core supporters will have a premiership to celebrate at the end of the year with probably no real idea of what the Crows will have achieved. Meanwhile, 20 something years and still waiting...........

I saw the interview by Wallace when he mentioned that, Collingwood supporters labelled him "soft". The bloke has just broken his leg badly, is he expected to still be able to run around and play footy? What a disgrace, it was great to see Richmond flog them.
