Tee-hee! Onya SJ for provoking so much interesting chat on here! Might get a few more bums on seats for Maccy next year if nothing else!

Keep it up guys but let's keep it clean hey? All who love the game, no matter what role they play, deserve to do their thing as best they can. If they fall flat on their faces, so what? It's their deal. Something outa left field needed to happen at Maccy. Let's hope it works for them.

As a currently registered macclesfield player I would hate to think what would of happened if the club hadn't taken this new approach. To many disinterested players may have just retired/gone away.
Have only met SJ once and from what I can telll most of the posting are on the money.
"Passionate","Passionate","Passionate". Might be the kick in the ass the club needs.
Here's cheers to Wal, Lals and the committee for making an excellent decision (with absolutely no disrespect to the outgoing coach) in regards to the clubs future moving forward.

On Shane Mitchell, wish you all the best mate I know you put everything into the role this year and I am not sure you/me  or others could have achieved much more with the cattle we had. Your passion can never be questioned and wish you all the best down with the hawks( "If my mail is correct").

P.S. Can ya leave the big Will with us???

With a Cheque Book like they have, that's always going to happen......the other Hills Country Clubs just wait to see what they turn up with.......in 2005 it was Carter, in 2006 it was Fox, in 2007 it was Silvy, Hill, in 2008 it was Jaques, Sidders, Smitheran and Slattery. Just a matter of who in 2009.

Lot of debate about Maccy's new coach SJ, and I reckon it's fair to say the great man has posted on this forum already. Interesting reading ex Birdwood and Golden Grove players perspective on his coaching style......can anyone from Hope Valley share their thoughts? But Maccy had to do something, and this may make or break them signing SJ for 3 years.

Did Mitchell get the Victor gig? If so, how weak is the standard down there! Understand Mitchell put in for every gig in Adelaide asking for ridiculous amounts of dough, for the VERY average footballers he'll bring......For those blokes to get paid money for playing footy is a disgrace. They took Maccy to bottom and still put their hands out for the money and if they were at Kersbrook they'd be playing B grade!

Kersbrook likely to go ahead next season with similar squad to this years, but it's only October and a long time to March.

The GSFL forum suggests that Ellis (Penola / Mt Gambier) has the Victor Harbor role rather than Mitchell.

Mitchell didn't get the job as he wanted to continue on as a player coach. My mail is that Victor were ultimatelly after a non playing coach. I assume that Ellis is non playing?

I reckon it is 'bye-bye' Eagles. Saw some members last night and they haven't been advised of any other meeting if one is happening. You know more than me hb and bf. It seems their members know even less. The whole thing is quite sad in that hardly anyone knew it was all going on, except of course those who steered it that way. It seems now that the kids of Cally will have nowhere to go, all because the engine room didn't do their research for reasons known only to them. They should have asked the townies how they felt. They might have scraped a side together if they had known the club was in crisis. Not everyone can afford membership to have their say.

R.I.P. Cally Eagles. At least they made up the numberrs and were proud for a time.

PS I'll bet any 'A' grade side scraped together from the townies would cost 10% of that paid to existing 'employees' and would be megamore effective!

I am almost certain that Ellis is a player and a decent one as well, so I would think that Mitchell may have missed out for other reasons. I am not in the loop though so I could be wrong. As for Cally, they paid 6 or 7 ex Goolwa players up to $250 per game and these guys were playing in a bottom GSFL side so surely there are no real suprises as to why they failed.
