I beleive when the panthers are going well you will find that they will have better attendances at away games rather than home games. This is because the real die hard supporters live "down on the flat" in adelaide. South really has not established an identity down south -yet.

Actually I've been meaning to bring that point up for a while, I know a few South fans and not one of them lives down South and let's face it, for 99% of South's life they've been based close to town.
They obviously moved to Noarlunga to get a new supporter base but in retrospect perhaps they should have just capitilised on their existing fan base?

At risk of sounding a bit "I'm allright Jack"ish, the move was good for me. With only one car and my wife working at Colonades I've been able to get to at all the home games and at least the games at the Croquet Club.
Then there's the access to the club during the week for meals, pokies etc and watching training.

As for the game.

yeah it does seem that south have greater fans then glenelg.............

you are kidding, you go to noarlunga and basically every visiting team has more support then the home team.

but then now we have to put into context the season, south prior to yesterday had 2 very big wins and there were signs of hope, when glenelg played at prospect we had lost 2 games, 1 was a credible effort the other was a distaster. the weather the night before, leading and during upto the glenelg game was appalling, the weather yesterday wasnt in the same category. i was at prospect, and BAYMAN was there with little Bayman i noticed along with the snouts.

mind you where were all the north supporters from glenelg oval 2 weeks ago at prospect????

Ecky, seeing as I was there and saw how soft the Bays players were I can safely say you can't include Glenelg players when it comes to supporting your club!

Very good point!!!
Only 5 bay supporters at Norf rooms after game too.

1 North are deserved flag favourites.

2 What is it with their supporters' obsession with crowd numbers?

PS: Before you ask, yes, I can name at least 3 West supporters who were there yesterday.

Don't stress r&b as West supporters > South supporters > Glenelg supporters

Actually its not so much my continued obsession, just trying to balance up the Bays fans obsessions with putting South down for various reasons and I was very impressed with the South turnout yesterday.

If I appear to obsess about crowd numbers its because its a very important facet of the SANFL as we know it and I love the SANFL and always an important topic of disucssion IMHO. I won't apologise for that.

1st thing you'll do though is clear Haynes to North for an U/17 player......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

No way.
An ageing reserves player who is well past it.
Then again, we did get Dean Howard for nothing....

Well Jimmy, as much as I like the bloke it well known that the author of the original post on this thread has a healthy antipathy towards the Bays and likes nothing more than seeing us suffer....... It seems to me that mental scars from the 80s that he carries are not just from Bros, Joe Dolce, "big hair cuts", shoulder pads and stone wash jeans.....

Its OK, we can handle it, however the club has put a submission into the SANFL for us to get back the area around Braeview Primary School off Kenihans Rd near Happy Valley that we had in the mid 90s so Wedgies kids will be zoned to the Bays.......

Some of the Snouts are softening his previous hardline views towards us though.......

We all know that you beat to a different drum Punky......

In a news flash, we are up to 1714 members officially, still no where near good enough as we should be over 2000 but given that we had bearly 1200 3 years ago it is an improvement. We have to work on keeping those and Ws instead of Ls we help with that as well as getting those followers of the Bays out there who are keeping a low profile to part with their hard earned.

I did my part for the GLENELG FC

I had about 1,000 beers in the bay disco in the eighties.

Havnt read all posts but If it were fine for North Glenelg they still wouldnt have had the fans south had.

South knocked off what west and glenelg deliver at prospect easily. And i dont just mean this year. Glenelg and west are disgraceful turnouts at prospect. They got close to the eagles. I wouldnt say there were quite 500 though.

These kind of arguments happen all the time and are never resolved. There are so many variables plus it often depends where you stand at different grounds. The argument will go on for ever and ever until the SANFL introduce a system for our benefit where as you walk into the ground you indicated which team you support.

Given some of our performances recently CA I'm not sure that I'd be too keen to nominate my team at the gate. Maybe a response along the lines of "we'll just see how things go in the first quarter then I'll come back and tell you who I barrack for." :)
