I would appreciate everyones thoughts on who is going to win the cup tonight...Im 1 ahead in a tipping comp at work with $100- first prize - all I need to do is get this open right and they cant catch me...im thinking France...seems like Punk likes the frogs.

I also like the bet "France to win on penalties" $8-00

WELL ITS AN interesting affair where do you start really

id say Italy would win and then it would be 1-0 result. a draw at 90minutes is a high possibility.

if a team gets 2 goals up it could be a whitewash because the team that is down may try and attack and therefore leave open spaces down back.

Ive gone France 1 nil but if you look at it objectively Italy have only let 1 goal through for the entire tournament and that was an own goal against the US.

France are playing an attacking attractive style of soccer so it will be interesting to see how Offence v Defence goes.

Wouldn't suprise me if it went to penalties and if it did I'll have a bob on the Frogs.

Bloody Mzzurri...
I prepared myself last night, grabbing a bag of fruchocs, chicken chips & a bloack of chocolate, for the pending televisual feast- I planned to watch Fawlty Towers Dvd's until the World Cup final came on. By 12:49, I decided screw that & went to bed (only after watching "Communication Problems" & "The Psychiatrist").
Glad I got my beauty sleep, as I woke up to turn on the TV & see a sea of blue shirts celebrating- France had won! Hang on, these guys aren't celebrating by drinking champagne & seducing women, they're seducing men! Italy must've won! Then I could hear that garbage "Italia, Italia", & I went to the toilet & starting vomiting.
Worse still, I find that is was 1-1 all, & they went to penalty shoot outs- if they're going to draw, 2-2 please!!
Then I checked a site ESPN Soccer, where they were getting stuck into Zidane- apparently he got red carded for headbutting one of the Mzzurri- I reckon he got it for not finishing him off properly! (hint to France: watch a game of Aussie Rules, 89 GF say, to see how you take someone out)

He headbutted a bloke in extra time (2nd half) and he not only did it blatantly, but couldnt chin him in the head, but in the chest. He clearly wasnt going to hurt the bloke, but it was certainly one of the funniest moments in world sport I have ever seen. France Subbed off Viera (injury), Henry (fatigue/hammy) and then Zidane went down, so 3 of their 5 penalty takers were off the pitch.
Bartez is officially the least likely to ever save a penalty. He got no where near any of the Italian rockets!!!

Henry was listed as being knocked out in a clash, so I'd suggest concussion.

Punk rooster - He definately wasnt knocked out. He had hamstring tightness and pulled up short just after the start of 2nd period of extra time.

Do smelling salts relieve hamstring tightness???
I saw the replay on the news- definately knocked out
(btw, I got my original source from ESPN Soccer- I'd expect them to be on the ball)

They use them for lots of reasons. One is to increase alertness, another is to take the brains reactives away from pain or injuries in the body. If you watched the game, he was getting rub downs on his right hammy for 5 minutes during the break before extra time and also at half time of extra time. He then took his place, but the first ball he went for, he pulled up short and waved to the bench.
