heard today that a coach from a div 3 club that lost the grand final has lost his job at that football club. The job has been given to a guy whos club finished in the bottom two in div 6 this year. This player/coach had given 15 years service to the club and was not told by anybody on the committee that he had lost the job. The club is going up a division for the first time and i can only seeing this decision turning the club up side down. Don't be surprised if alot of players decide to move on and the club only spends 1 year in div 2 and then has a rapid fall down a FEW divisions.

The committee may have a lot to answer for in the next few years. This may be the end for a club that has some great juniors coming through

I thought Payney applied for the Gawler Central job a while back. Who got the EP job then?

Obviously the Brahma Lodge coach got the gig then.

Payney obviously did a good job this year, but when you shop yourself around blatantly sometimes it bites you on the arse. Can't blame EP for wanting to secure a coach.

I heard that the only reason carey payne shopped around was because ep were trying to stitch him and pay him little $$ for 2009. apparently tried to play the "be loyal to ep" card on him hoping he'd accept. obviously coaching div 2 would be more attractive but you can't blame a man for wanting to look after himself...
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Not at all mate. Obviously not many of us know the whole story. At the end of the day though it is the club that holds the cards, just the way it is.

Do you reckon that's the story? If I were EP I would be getting a bit pissed having to wait to appoint a coach because Payne was waiting on something else. Maybe they thought he would get another job and thought they better move to get the best coach they could. Better safe than sorry.

It will be interesting to see Boozehound's thoughts on the matter and ramifications for EP.

it will also be interesting to see what the great boozehound will actually be doing next year... being so close to payne and all. i think i read in another thread that he has even started his own pre-season and is looking to have a big year - how many years have we heard this from the burly forward?
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
