See this is the problem. 313 all out on a day 1 Adelaide Oval wicket is not good. Particularly when 5 blokes get starts of 40 or more. The reason this seems like a good performance is because of how bad we have been. Don't dwell on the past and make excuses for the present. Fact is we have guys that are good enough to make big scores yet none do so. 5 guys get 40 plus and not one makes a hundred. Not good enough and whilst people keep accepting such performances as good the side will not get any better. Time for the guys to get a good boot up the arse and realise getting 40 then getting out is not what makes a first class cricketer. Don't forget the fact that the NSW attack was not exactly the most threatening going around either.

Fair enough. The thing is no matter what happens with the ball the batting performance is still not up to scratch. Manou and O'Brien did a good job but Harris, Klinger and Ferguson should have gone on.

And our star recruit should have been able to survive the first ball from a part time bowler.

Tait - 2 half centuries at 1st class level, and a top score of 68. He's laughing at you.

Yeah and Glenn McGrath made a test half century does that make him a good batsmen?

CAMERON
COCKLEY [debut ?]
HAURITZ
LAMBERT
THORNLEY
CASSON

SA ALL OUT 313

On a flat track against this attack this score was disappointing
Considering how many batsman got starts it was 100 less than what SA should have made

Cant wait to see TAIT TOMorrow morning against the baby blues

COCKLEY is on a hat trick next innings [if he gets a wicket first ball 2nd dig]
Would he be the first NSW player on debut to take a hat trick ?

I guess we have put ourselves in with a chance if we bowl well. Their batting line up doesn't look to be the most accomplished one going around.

I agree with other posters though, it would be nice if our batsman could go on with it when they get a start.

Wait and see on Khan, getting out first ball happens. I'm a lot more worried about the blokes who get in and then play ordinary shots. My gut feeling is dud recruit though. It's one thing to score runs for Pakistan in their conditions, but coming over to the best domestic comp in the world to play in totally foreign conditions, without playing any grade cricket, doing a pre-season or staying for the whole season will be a tough ask. I was impressed with his mannerisms during the one dayer the other night though so I'll wait and see how he goes.
Don't be scared. Now is not the time!

I saw one of the 50s TAIT made
He had the crowd ducking for cover when he kept planting the then Queenslander Nathan Hauritz into the crowd
From memory he hit 4 zacs of NH
I can still recall a certain animated gentleman in the Bayman I mean Bradman stand yelling out to the QLD captain after NH was hit for another 6
" GIVE HIM ANOTHER SLIP..."

No doubt, that was never in question. Tait is still a bunny though.

I recall that innings as well Mal and yeah he hit some massive sixes but i think 80% of his innings will be under 10 runs which = a bunny IMO.

Over 1.1: Wise to Hughes, no run, OUT, dropped at his feet, Mail takes off from the non strikers end but Hughes sends him back when he is two thirds down the pitch, Plant throws to Wise who runs up to the stumps and whips off the bails, great start for the Redbacks
:)

No, it makes him a player who usually bats at 10 or 11. Nothing unusual about that.
