Daniel    Motlop      North Adelaide    $31
Nathan    Lonie       North Adelaide    $41
Darryl    Wintle      North Adelaide    $51

Ok, I'll start with the Roosters (as I know them)
Too Short
Nick Gill- missed games through injury
Chris Ladhams- only polled 1 or 2 votes in the Roost Player of the Year

Can't Win
Daniel Motlop- hasn't played enough games
Nathan Lonie- played 1 game for the year for North!

Chances
Dean Howard- sensational pick up, leading the Budget Player of the Year (i think, I haven't bought one in a while, he'd be up there though), State Player, on-baller, has been in North's best just about every week- I got on at $50
Scott Bamford- picks up plenty of the footy & his form is getting better with age
Leigh Ryswyk- very good form until an off field incident affected him, is geting back to his best
Luke Ivens- Hit some very good for there for a while, & is leading the Roost Player of the Year
Darryl Wintle- A solid contribitor, outstanding skipper, I don't think a real chance of winning though

Chances Not Listed

Heath Younie- a very professional footballer, all quality, his 38 touches + 4 goals surely would have got him BOG last week,
worth chasing up a price for him

The Roost! Player of the Year
22 - Luke Ivens
21 - Dean Howard
19 - Leigh Ryswyk
17 - Heath Younie
15 - Nick Gill, Scott Bamford
11 - Darryl Wintle
10 - Matt Campbell

Jacob     Surjan      Port Adelaide     $26
Marc      Bullen      Port Adelaide     $31

Only 3 Port Magpies in the market.

Too Short
Jeremy Clayton- a class act, should trouble the leaderboard for a bit, but has missed a few games with injury. Still have to respect, but the $3 on offer is way too short

Can't Win
Marc Bullen- gone back to Victoria
Jacob Surjan- He's been with the Power for too many games, iirc

Chances Not Listed
To be quite honest, I wouldn't know.
Can't access their forum to assess whether they run a player of the year competition.
Booney, can you help?

Ben       Haynes      West Adelaide      $6
Luke      Jericho     West Adelaide     $26

West have been a rabble this year. They do however have 1 shining light.

Chances

Ben Haynes- Been a revelation at Richmond this year, was even tipped for the Magarey before the season started!
A class act, & shouldn't have to worry about team-mates stealing votes. The opposition just might though...

Chances Not Listed
James Ezard- would be the main threat to Haynes, but even as the 2nd best performed player at West, there's still daylight between the 2. He's a good kid on the up

Can't Win
Luke Jericho- probably spent too much time with the Crows- voting in their forum PotY reflects this

Westies Forum Player of the Year
36 Haynes
24 Ezard
15 Dragicevic
14 Porplyzia
9 Jericho, Piasente

Bayman, Dutchy, Ecky or MT79, can you do one for the Bays?
Mal, Squawk or any Norwood supporter, same for Norwood?

I will tidy up the posts if required (to keep similar formatting)

Magarey Medal Odds - NFC

Postby Squawk » Wed Jul 12, 2006 11:29 am

On the NFC Forum we have Bryce Campbell in the lead for best player (albeit with a dubious voting system) but he has been good all this year. Other good players have been Gavin Hughes (who withdrew late from the state game), Brett Zorzi (unlucky not to be picked in the State game) and Nick Jackman.

Firstly, the NFC Forum Player of the Year is strangely operated on a cumulative votes basis, not an averaged votes basis. Ie if 10 supporters vote one week and 35 the next, and a player has a blinder when 35 people vote, they do better on the leaderboard. The best indication our leadboard offers then is simply, who is catching the eyes of the supporters.

I will try and balance this with my own observations:
Code: Select all
Joketon's Norwood Field

Scott     Borlace     Norwood            $7  (NFC Forum - 32 votes from 7 games)
James     Gallagher   Norwood           $26  (NFC Forum - 59 votes from 7 games)
Heath     Culpitt     Norwood           $26  (NFC Forum - 65 votes from 6 games)
Kris      Massie      Norwood           $31  (NFC forum - 30 votes, all from Round 1)
Brett     James       Norwood           $41  (NFC Forum - 25 votes, votes received in 4 games)
Bryce     Campbell    Norwood           $41  (NFC Forum - 130 votes from 7 games)

Too Short
Scott Borlace- Has played a few good games but not enough to warrant a price that short.

Cant Win
Kris Massie- has only played one or two games for NFC this year.

Chances
Bryce Campbell - been very consistent. Gets plenty of possessions each game including hard ball gets. Best chance at NFC IMHO and therefore very good value IMHO at $41.

Chances not listed
Gavin Hughes - has played well this year and was unlucky to have to withdraw from the state team on the morning of the game. Has 43 votes on the NFC Forum from 6 games.
Brett Zorzi- consistent performer in the back lines where the ball has spent a fair bit of time this year. Has 86 votes on the NFC forum from 9 games.

Miscellaneous
Nick Jackman- has played well this year. He is certainly not in Magarey form - has just been solid in the back lines. Currently has 30 votes on the NFC forum from 5 games.

What a shock... I give an assessment of the Magarey chances, all of a sudden, Daniel Motlop & Adam Fisher (thanks Mal) are out to $201! Our plan worked, let's go back these two off the map....

Joketon is still scared of Massie though - kept him at $31!
K Cornes is listed twice in the field at $101 both times. Does that mean you can get a daily double at $202? Still think K Cornes is good value at $101 in any event.

Anything is worth a try.
Ask this to the JOKETON clowns:

" Can I have $1 on CLAYTON from Port Adelaide please
to win the Mag/medal."

You might get the odds about MARK CLAYTON for JEREMY CLAYTON

I see the South Player Archard isn't listed.
He's currently coming 4th in the possessions ladder averaging 28.4 touches a game.
I don't think he'll win but not a bad smoky if you can get 50/1 as he's improving every game too.

Out of the Advertiser Player of the Year awards, West Adelaide have only scored 15 votes so far for the year.

Haynes has 12 of them.
