Yes nickname i know what you were saying hence why i replied. You only mentioned that though and ignored the fact that drebin said that plenty of cap space will have been freed up by the moving on of several players. Anyway this is off topic.
Tim Clarke would be an excellent pickup for any SANFL club. I'd love to get him to North.

Geez I'll put in a next time I mention the salary cap as I was half taking the "you know what" because I knew a few of the people on here would jump at the chance to go through the usual "North must be cheating" salary cap crap we get these days.

Agree Rod, large chunks of the salary cap will have been freed up for this year. All thanks to Jars btw
Clarke hasn't gone - he is playing on. If you include Motlop and Ladhams in the "outs" there is a fair bit of $$$ available as those two plus Ward were on big $$$ if you believe the stories floating about.
Geez Dr Ebin. I must have missed something somewhere. I'm sure I read he had gone. I never noticed him on the out's list though. He would almost be a new recruit for 2009 though. We saw so little of him last year.

After his freak back injury in the pre-season he struggled to find fitness. The club announced half way through the year that he was having a few weeks off and then he would return to play Ressies to help them out come finals which is what happened.
The club is confident that with a full pre-season he will be a valuable contributor in 2009 so he will be like a new recruit.
Also you would be suprised just what he gets in terms of contract / payment. He is not on big $$$ in comparison to some players. Dare I say that ironically he came to North to play in a winning side and at a stable club but 2008 proved that was not the case at Chook Land but looking ahead to 2009 I think there should be remarkable improvement on and off the field!
Recruiting for any club at this time of the year is not easy.
It's difficult to get a commitment from players at this early stage.
It always intrigues me that North are professional enough to announce the signing of recruits so early.
Obviously they're doing something right to please the recruits.
They've done well, but at least it should mean that they couldn't possibly afford any more similar recruits, so at least there should be something left for the rest of us.

That's interesting, it appears David Kellett is talking to everyone that will talk back to him. He may be a personal trainer but he also drives a forklift ( which he is sick of doing) so he's obviously 'multi skilled'

2 more names to be announced next week
And one is likely to be a "shock" announcement if my mail is correct!

Think i've heard the same and
well spill the beans see if we have heard the same rumor
redandblack wrote:Well, we all know who that might be. He's been asking huge money, so if he signs we can all draw our own conclusions.
Not sure he's asking for it as opposed to being offered it
Yes, probably right, cp, but no doubt it gets more and more attractive as the bidding goes on.
You'd hope he stays with his original club.
And while I agree he should stay with his original club, is he REALLY worth all the money supposedly being thrown at him ??? If it is who I think it is, IMO, he is a very good footballer in an average football team. Don't think he is really deserving of all the fuss he is getting, just MO

It's keeping me awake at night (I gotta find a healthier obsession than footy lol)
I got a bad feeling about this one.
Correct me if I'm wrong but he would attract a transfer fee if going to another SANFL club (Glenelg played hardball with Phil Raymond when Norwood tried to recruit him last year as he was still tied to us - delisted off an AFL list so still tied to his SANFL club)
AS I understand it transfer fees are included in the cap too (Glenelg had to allow for the McCormack fee in 2008 even though he didn't play a game)
Happy to be corrected on this if wrong. If it is the BC I think it is one would think he would be pretty hefty transfer fee too
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
