I actually went to the game today - the first time I had been to an A-League match. I am not a big soccer fan, but I went mainly to see Sydney import Kazu play as I knew a lot about him from when I was in Japan, and I was also curious as to what kind of atmosphere was at these A-League games.

I was very impressed by how professional everything was - the stadium, the pre-match entertainment, the announcing, and most importantly, the actual game. It was quite a different atmosphere from some Adelaide City games I went to a few years ago.

So I don't see why they won't average crowds of at least 10,000 and become a bigger threat to other sports, especially with Australia qualifying for the World Cup. So I really think the AFL and SANFL need to take note and do what they can to keep as many people as possible both playing and watching Aussie Rules. Otherwise I think the possibility of soccer taking over as the predominant football code in say 20 years time is very real.

To think that people from the east thought that we would not do well at all. We I guess we've shown them. Top after 14 games and 7 more to go.

Went yeterday for my first game this year, great game and atmosphere. It is a great summer substitute for footy and good time to haev it at 4-30 on a sundie, still got a full day before heading off to the soccer and still get home at a reasonable time.

So tell me whats the difference between "The Gate" & "The Red Army"? apart from sitting at either end?

On a serious note the game was quality. We were superb for the 1st 15-20 minutes, scored twice and then stoped. In my opinion we were very lucky to win the game. For the last 25 minutes of the first half and the first 25 minutes of the second we were comprehensivly outplayed and were fortunate not to be 3:2 or more down by mid way through the 2nd half. The defending out wide is crap, as evidenced a few weeks ago against Glory. Last year Richie A was fantastic and player of the year I beleave but this year he does not seem to know his arse from his elbow!

Utd played with plenty of spirit but in my opinion are short of a creative midfielder (sorry Ross you have been a champ but IMO your legs won't do it any more). We seem to lack patience and system when carrying the ball out of the back line. This is based entirly on observations of home games. Anyhow I'm chuffed we are top. Love the game. Am beginning to love the team but am concerned that a couple of the other clubs are better than their results thus far indicate (Sydney/Perth/Roar). Hey lets enjoy the wins. Go Utd. :D

I saw a couple of highlights from the game on a sports show here. They had a top ten listing of plays from all sports around the world for the past week. As I was watching I just had time to make the Katakana for Adelaide and Sydney and catch a small glimpse of somebody scoring a goal before they switched to the next play. The same game also made the top ten for "Not Top Plays" when there was that brawl around the goal keeper. Anyone have any details about that? The glimpses they showed were too brief.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

i saw exactly how the brawl started, (and it never really stoped for the rest of the game it just slowed down)
Rech kneed a Sydney player in the side as Rech didnt like the treatment he was recieving in the box.
