I like it the way it is zed. If you don't like it I suggest you go join a football league with less travelling. Oops, I forgot, there isn't one.

If you a saying top teams in each div thrash the bottom teams already, what will happen when we widen the gap? You effectively half the strength of each divsion.

What happens when the top teams don't face good competition week in week out? They get worse.

I think people's priorities are wrong if they are worried more about travelling a couple of times than playing good footy and the strength of the league.

By the way zed, I am from the APFL.

well it wont be up to us shrek..the clubs will decide..and if they decide yes/no..that means they must be wiser than you/me

i actually dont think it is to do with insurmountable travel..its about being able to grow as a league and the economics and time involved..the south can supply teams as well not just the north

and you dont even know what the division break ups of the teams will be.. so saying that the defeats will be even bigger is speaking without actually knowing eh? you dont know do you? ok

see what happens, the clubs will decide...dont react to change like its the bubonic plague..some change can be good..peace all and get on miss scarlatti in the wakeful

Your proposition was that because the clubs were making the decision they are smarter than us. That's a tad illogical. Being given the right to decide does not necessarily precede intelligence.

I have written elsewhere that there is quite a gap in standard between divisions due to a few factors. If the league is split in two then presumabley div 3N and div3S would comprise of half the current div3 and div 4 each. Therefore the top teams from div 3 would be playing the bottom teams from div 4. In fact, on average half the teams they would be playing would be worse than all of the teams from the existing div 3.

Of course the division may not be evenly split due to the geographic location of teams but one closer divison would mean the other was even more uneven.

This has been tried before I can't remember what grades possibly down in the 3rd teams as there was at least a DIV9 North and DIV9 South and possibly Div 8. I don't have a problem with them looking at it but would doubt it could be workable.

Another one of Zoolanders dumb ideas.
Have played before in this north south competition back in 1995-97 for div 5 down. We played in Div5 Nth, our C & D grade up against the likes of Elizabeth, Smithfield, Eastern Park, etc, etc. Our C grade was smashed every week and our d grade did win the Div5 Res flag. At the time our D Grade was a very strong side. Our C Grade did win the flag the following year as well as the D grade again but were playing in a north/south C & D grade comp.

North & South comps don't work they become lopsided and this has been proven.

Their defacto C grade comp where you play being based upon where your A grade are placed is B**l S**t as well. ](*,) ](*,)

Our C grade were denied a fair chance to compete this year. As 75% of the side are deaf we asked them to be placed in a lower grade to at least be competitive. This was denied by the league upon their Rules and Regs. But the league goes against it's own rules if you look at the setup of div 7 but Shadiac and the rest of his puppets can't see this. :butthead: :butthead:

has anything been said with a trial of zoning starting with c grade comp only? i would think this idea would be ok as most C graders dont wana travel half of adelaide to play and the amount of times you see C grade struggling for numbers for those kind of matches

It lasted 1-2 years, definatly did not exist in 97 , I reckon it was in 95 it happened because the P1 and A1 competition was established which was the biggest load of crap ever because A1 was a better standard than P2 and so on and that was in 96 to my memory,I was only young then so forgive me if im wrong...

also remember they did this to allow the safa sides to come in and not go via div 6 as what would have normally happen, and to play every gf up to div1 or 2....like ttg and modbury did back in those days of coming in to div 6......do we remember that. i do

sorry, your saying it didnt work for you. you said your d gr won the gf one year and the next c grade the year after...wtf..must have worked a little for you as your a grade was in div 1.....as for this year with the c grade mirroring the a grade , you guys unf had a bad year thru the club, and saying that your c grade was full of deaf guys really wouldnt make any diff what grade they played being not competetive in c1 is just the luck of the draw.....do you think maybe they should have been in c5, and then everyone would have kicked up a stink...prob bad timing that your c grade was not competitive this year as the a s and b s wernt either. but next year will be diff. your a s and b s may be ok and the c s will be in c 2.

can say that it was only the amateur league itself who were against broadview's c1 playing lower this year - they would have struggled in c5 as well but at least would've been lightly comeptitive. having said that, to hold the integrity of the lower divisions (as envisaged by the saafl) teams will occasionally get pumped as some teams c grades will be stronger than others.

I believe all clubs got a hurry up & pay up letter from Shadiac while he was away in IRELAND.
All clubs that are late in paying the fees for our U-23s & Shadiac to go to Ireland will be fined.
