And you have the sheer effrontery to tell me to stay on topic.

RUMOUR FROM RELIABLE SOURCE

Adam Switala most likely will retire from SANFL football and not go on in 2009.
The reason being Rick MacGowan has moved to Melbourne with Hawthorn, Adam is now the man in charge of MacGowans business which Adam has been working at for years.
This has apparently increased his hours per week and feels at his age that he will struggle with the commitment expected out of an SANFL player.

Like i said this is only a rumour no confirmation, but does come from a reliable person who is generally spot on the money.

Listening to Ronnie Fuller on the 5RPH Sport Show tonight, he was quized by the boys on any recruits the Eagles are chasing...

Obviously he spoke of Jay Cheep who has already been signed and of course Ken McGregor who has committed to the SANFL now he has "retired" from the Adelaide Crows. I know there has been speculation about what Rhett Biglands was going to be doing and Ron confirmed that he will be at least doing a pre season with the Eagles (they start training next Monday) and he will see how the knee and body holds up.

There has also been some talkings about a favourite son at Woodville Oval, Hayden Skipworth, and whether the club is trying to lure him back from the VFL. Ron mentioned on the show tonight that Hayden has committed to coming back to the Eagles for season 2009 if he is not picked up in the AFL draft. We all know he went over to the VFL to try and get onto the list of a Melbourne based AFL club but I doubt, after having a knee reconstruction in his first year over there, that any club will show interest in recruiting Skippy.

So I reckon it's safe to say and that we can be 99% sure that we will officially add Hayden Skipworth as a "recruit" for the Eagles in season 2009...

I wait with baited breath for the signing of Skippy .

Ron didn't let too much out

there are a number of others on the radar still waiting to see if they will be re drafted before they will commit to other clubs

But he did also state that if Skipworth and Biglands eventually sign on to play they do need to be paid. McGregor is now full time in the SANFL and would be seeking good money coming out of the AFL and with Jeep signed up as well as this years core group of players putting pen to paper to go on again next year, Fireman Fuller suggested that there might not be any money left in the salary cap to recruit anyone else.

Doesn't matter if the club has a billion dollars in the bank, if they spent up their salary cap restrictions on recruits already, than that's all they can do. I think Rogers stepped down not because he is a monkey but because of the time committment required and he wasn't able to give that due to other commitments.

Last year at times Mark Jeffries appeared to be the only one of the coaching staff showing emotion (not at Alberton there was one voice standing out above all others). And I will enjoy watching Mark's coaching style, he has that bit of mongrel one needs at times to be a coach(that is on the footy field ).Could he be Rons Heir apparent .
And is not Andrew Rodgers just going to be an assistant to Ron next year ?

I understand what you are saying about the money holden, but explain why Andrew Rogers is staying on as an Assistant Coach to Mr Fuller if Ron doesn't rate him ?
