McGregor is now full time in the SANFL and would be seeking good money coming out of the AFL and with Jeep signed up as well as this years core group of players putting pen to paper to go on again next year, Fireman Fuller suggested that there might not be any money left in the salary cap to recruit anyone else.

holden78 wrote:They have heaps of cash but they wont spend it all of our recruits walked out on us so they have even more and with fanta pants going as well . Good to see rodgers get dumped and jefferies get the gig .( you pay penuts you get monkeys )

Doesn't matter if the club has a billion dollars in the bank, if they spent up their salary cap restrictions on recruits already, than that's all they can do. I think Rogers stepped down not because he is a monkey but because of the time committment required and he wasn't able to give that due to other commitments.

Big Phil what im saying is they have heaps of money under the cap and they payed peanuts and got monkeys also as i stated on here ages ago rodgers was never going to be ressies coach next year because ronnie does not rate him so dont beleive the spin they crap on about

I think the Eagles love the salary cap as it gives them excuse for not spending any money on recruits.

I would think from my many "chats" with people at the footy, many of whom have nothing to do with SAFOOTY.That the era of non spending at Oval Ave could well be on the way out.Because another year like 2008 and many who would not spend money to make money could be elected out.
And this is not jumping on the HOLDEN78 bandwagon far from it .
I am willing to see what happens this year but many will not tolerate another year like 2008.

So recruit away eagles just no more Biagi like players!!!

The Eagles have never really been big recruiters, they try to go for quality but this has come unstuck recently. The Eagles don't like to overload on recruits so there are plenty of opportunities/positions for homegrown youngsters to fight for. If Skipworth gets signed I would expect that would be the Eagles last big signing. Depending on what happens to Sam Jacobs there is a possibility he could also end up back at the Eagles. Numerous locals, country, interstate country and some from "anywhere" will also be given a shot early on.

Just saying thats a funny thing to do to a guy who took the seconds to a G/F.

I bet a few league coaches would enjoy making a G/f.

Don't know if it has been said all ready or not but the Magpies are trying to get Chad Jones (WCE), have had talks and waiting for a reply

Would be a pretty good pick up if he decides to come over....

Geez Squawk, based on your list, there are going to be a fair few boys playing in the magoos that wont be too happy about it !!!

Unless the SANFL changes the interchange bench to 15 !!

And yes, WHUFC, as Squawk said, young Weetra has signed, on a 2 year deal with the Maggies...

It would be good if somehow the CONFIRMED recruits (and OUTs) could be summarised as far as what is already known, as this thread is a little bit all over the place.

I don't know all the IN's, but i'll try and make a start:

Recruits
PORT - Weetra, Barham

NORTH - Ackland, Schwarze, Whyman, White

WWT - Cheep

NORWOOD - McGuinness, Hughes

What other confirmed recruits can be added to the above list for the 9 SANFL clubs??

You know he is not a "recruit" Mickyj, he's an Eagles native anyway and played pretty much all year this season for WWT

Well i know that i watched his first ever game .

BUT under the terms he was a listed AFL player who retired and signed with WWT for 2009 and goes on the sanfl list.and he is listed on the WWT homepage as a new recruit.
Would not white for north be the same ?
