couldnt agree more G I would have thought they have more worry about at WEST than most clubs. Maybe start mouthing off DASH 61 when you win more than a couple of games then talk

Maybe with your budget we could have won a flag

Question : With the recruiting at roosterland and some of the names that were being mentioned, "How many games do the Roosters HAVE to win this year and where must they finish on the premiership table?????

To be fair dash is always pretty well on the money with his North rumours / stories although he, because of his obvious sources, only gets told what those people want him to hear. So he is quick to jump to conclusions re some of his info e.g Brett White leaving, the knifing jars story etc. There are always to sides to every story.

Drebin fair point, what is the other side of the story then????? Drebin, u should ask Brett White how he and when he found out

From my Eagles email alert

MEDIA ALERT

Wednesday, 12 November

SKIPWORTH SIGNS

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce that Hayden Skipworth has committed to the Eagles for the next two seasons.

Subject to not being selected in the AFL draft or pre-season draft, Skipworth will return to the club after two years playing for the Bendigo Bombers in the VFL. He won the Bendigo Bombers best and fairest award in 2008.

Upon committing to the club Skipworth said “Obviously I am very keen to continue my time within the AFL system and so am concentrating on the pre-season with Essendon at this stage, however, should I not be drafted I look forward to recommencing my career with the Eagles”.

Ron Fuller, coach of the Eagles said “Hayden is a quality player with proven AFL experience and a passion for this football club. He will be a fantastic addition to what I think is already an exciting list from a playing perspective and Hayden will have a big role to play in helping develop some of our young talent”.

Skipworth played 75 League matches for the club after joining as a 16 year old. He was drafted by the Adelaide Crows in 2000 and spent seven years on the Crows list. In his last match for the Eagles, Skipworth won the Jack Oatey medal for best afield in the 2006 Grand Final, with the Eagles running out winners by 76 points.

I would be VERY suprised if Skippy gets another shot at AFL with the Bombers so I think Eagles fans can look forward to seeing him back in the SANFL for season 2009.

If it does eventuate that Hayden ends up back at Oval Avenue, I think he will be a great "recruit" for Ron Fuller's side and will have a good year in season 2009.

With all the talk about clubs choosing to offload older players so they can secure younger talent before Gold Coast can, I would have thought it would not be too beneficial for Essendon to draft a 25 year old. But they still can, so I'm not going to say welcome back until he definitely comes back.

Good to see Skipworth making that commitment to the Eagles, clearly he is someone that plays for the jumper which wont hurt the Eags finals chances in 2009!

Interesting

I cant understand why you would not wait 2 weeks until after the draft to make an announcement like that, quite bizarre in fact, With the roosters I understand Damon White chose to continue his career in the SANFL and withdraw from going in the draft, so yes break that sort of news, but how many other SANFL league clubs are sitting on players subject to the draft and recruiting them but choose not to have a media release.

My thoughts, what do others think?????? :?

So you are saying that tipping your hat now will make Essendon to draft him so Bendigo can still play him when not required by Essendon?

I see no reason at all why the Eagles wouldn't release the above information. Wish my club would do the same.

Like others have said - I have absolutely no problem with this sort of info being released by the club. It keeps the supporters informed, and lets face it, there is only a very slim chance of him being re-drafted, so i think its all good for Eagles supporters. Would love to hear that sort of thing from the bays at this stage of the year!
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

I honestly can't either Ash Man, but you never know...

Like Skippy at the Bombers, Alan Obst at the Kangaroos, Fabian DeLuca and Adam Cockshell at Richmond, Darren Pfieffer, Greg Bentley and Luke himself at Carlton, they are being given an opportunity to at least train in the pre season with the said AFL clubs to try and get another crack at the big league.

At least they are 1 step closer to getting another gig with the training opportunity but in saying all that I would expect Luke Jericho in a Redlegs jumper in 2009...
