I can't believe the total lack of promotion for this test. You can almost picture the conversation
Bigwig 1: So who do we give the marque tests too next year?
Bigwig 2: Several cities are putting their hands up as you know.
Bigwig 3: We've got to set one up to fail so we can point the finger and escape the flack for when our program comes out
All: Brilliant, Bravo, Well done old man
Bigwig 3: What we do is continue to run the Gabba test in November. Everyone knows that Qld gets about 75 percent of it's rainfall during that month.
Bigwig 1: I say you really are a clever chap number 3.
Bigwig 3: Our next move is to do bugger all promotion when a side that traditionally draws poor crowds come to town. The locals won't even know the match is on!
Bigwig 2: Outstanding three, that should do the trick!
Bigwig 3: Finally, we'll continue to invite the minor teams to Brisbane every year. That way, we won't lose as much money when the match is rained off for the 122nd straight year.
The room stand as one to applaud this work of genuis
CA Spokesman at 2009/10 Season Launch: CA have announced that the West Indies will play a three test match series to be held in Perth, Brisbane and Hobart. The West Indians have shown an affinity for Western Australia and Tasmania can thank their lucky stars we don't leave them off the map like the AFL does. Brisbane was selected as the third venue for the West Indies test series after drawing poor crowds to test cricket for many years and in particular last season. The Frank Worrell trophy will kick off in Brisbane in November. Bring your raincoat. We are also pleased to invite Pakistan to play in a three test series to be played in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. No more questions? Right then I'm off (runs out of the press conference).
regards,
