Osborne loses talented players
TRAVIS COHALAN
20/12/2007 9:18:06 AM
One of the most powerful clubs in country football, Osborne has been disadvantaged by the departures of brothers Dean and Sam Terlich and young gun Malcolm Douglas.
Dean Terlich, 18, was picked up in the rookie draft by AFL club Sydney while his brother Sam Terlich, 20, has been signed up by Ovens and Murray powerhouse North Albury.

Douglas, who won Osborne’s best and fairest this year as a 17-year-old, attracted widespread interest and has joined Norwood in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).

Despite losing three genuine up-and-coming stars, Hart yesterday wished the trio all the best and put a positive spin on the situation.

“As a club we are really happy for all three of them,” Hart said.

“The three young guys are all terrific people and have a lot of football skills and we hope they go really well at their new clubs.

“It’s not a bad thing for us at all because it means we are doing things right and producing quality footballers at a junior level.

“No doubt we will miss Dean, Sam and Mal because they are all first grade players but they have a chance to further their football careers and they are all moving on to a higher standard so good luck to them.”

Dean Terlich was last week rookie listed by Sydney along with Turvey Park teenager Matt Beckmans.

Hart yesterday threw his full support behind Sydney’s decision to add Terlich to their list and said the dashing midfielder had the potential to make AFL level.

“I think he (Terlich) has all the right attributes,” Hart said.

“He is a good size, he has all the skills and he reads the game very well.

“He will only improve by training and playing with guys at the Swans.”

Hart also has a high opinion of Douglas, who was noticed by Norwood while playing for Sydney Swans reserves earlier in the year.

“Mal is a great young player,” Hart said.

“He is lightning quick and he has been over and done some training with Norwood and they want him back next year which is a good sign

Terlich looks markedly different these days!

Norwood has now confirmed the signing of Dean Terlich in addition to the previously announced signings of Gavin Hughes and Kieran McGuinness.

Subject to the draft,

Kris Massie has signed for a year,
Bryce Campbell for 3 years
Andrew Lee (ex Essendon) has signed
Luke Jericho is still contracted (but I think he is also hopeful of being re-drafted).

Cockshell is training on at Richmond and Hughes is training on at the Power atm.

Interestingly, only Lee and Terlich are new to Norwood and the others are all coming off Crows/Power lists after being drafted from Norwood or mini-drafted by Norwood (Massie) - and of course Jericho transferred from West Adelaide.

I suspect that may be the end of 2009 recruiting for the Legs, bar a few zone/amateur league types who may try out at the club.
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.

Official release from the Norwood Football Club:

Key Signings

Ladies & Gentleman

We are very pleased today to announce the key signings of Kris Massie (1 year), Andrew Lee (2 years), Dean Terlich (2 years) & Bryce Campbell (3 years).

Kris’s record speaks for itself playing a total of 131 AFL games (88 Adelaide & 43 Carlton).

The experience, leadership & most of all the versatile playing capabilities that Kris will bring to the Norwood football club will continue to help in our quest to become one of the most powerful football club’s within the SANFL.

Andrew is a strong marking, well skilled 196cm and 93kg Key position player from the Essendon Football Club who has played 5 senior games of AFL football.

Originally taken at pick 30 in the 2005 National draft from the Burnie Dockers in Tasmania, Andy is a good replacement for either Stuart Bown (retired) or Taylor Walker (who is likely to spend time with the Adelaide Crows).

Dean Terlich joins us after spending season 2008 on Sydney’s Rookie list. A skillful and quite powerful midfielder/half forward Dean chose Norwood in front of a number of other interstate & local club’s due to a strong relationship he has with fellow teammates Sam Rowe, Mal Dougals & Crow listed Taylor Walker.

Bryce Campbell returns to the Club he loves, the Club he calls home & the only club he was ever going to play for after a couple of frustrating seasons at AFL level with the Adelaide Crows. Bryce has spent the past two months home on the farm in Wagga Wagga freshening up both his body and mind before coming across & signing with the Club yesterday. Bryce always wanted to be at Norwood & has decided not to return home or pursue other options as his preference was to stay at the Parade.

All these gentlemen’s signings are subject to being re-drafted in this year’s National or Pre season drafts.

The Club is generally excited about the prospect of having these boys for season 2009 & beyond & we look forward to their contribution towards our quest to win our first flag since 1997.

Which part of the past are you proud of? The part where that saying was pinched from Salisbury Football Club? (when Bob Clayton was present at the club through his sons playing there the saying mysteriously appeared at Port...)

And...? If so, was it Trademarked or Registered? Anyway Port Adelaide has always sought the best and made it their own, "Cheer, cheer, the Black (Red) and the White...", Foster Williams, etc. for example.

On Fos, other clubs around Australia, and not just football clubs have adopted his Creed as something to aspire to.

Those Portites will steal anything that you don't nail down, and see it as fair game.

Well it is well known in folklore that you can run 6 blocks in Port Adelaide and still be at the scene of the crime. 8)

Sturt have picked up Matthew Payne, a rover from Queensland club Zillmere. Payne played a fair bit of footy with Luke Crane and they're pretty good mates.

Luke Crane reckons that Payne is a better player than him.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I would be a little suprised if true, but have "heard" that Elijah "Noodles" Ware is going to take a year off from SANFL football next season with Centrals.

Would be dissapointed if he did, especially seeing as he works for Chris and James Gowans and it will be their last year in the SANFL in 2009.

Have also heard that Eddie Sansbury is pretty much signed with the Dogs for next year, pending him not getting picked up by another AFL club in next weekends draft.

I bet Dutchy will look forward to seeing Eddie in a Dogs jumoer and possibly Leigh Brown running around in a Bloods jumper, his 2 favourite players from the AFL
