Most Dominant Season

Postby The Big Shrek » Thu Nov 27, 2008 3:08 pm

Which team has had the most dominant season in the SAAFL.

My guess in Henley's div 2 side in 2004. They were awesome.

any team that was undefeated would have to have a crack.
would have to get down to percentage, gf winning margin etc.

i guess that the higher the grade, the less likely the chance of being undefeated.

but then again, generally the quality of a grade is reflected in the quality of the players selected in that grade.

now i'm just confused.

so i'll vote for the div 8 blacks 2000 - undefeated and won flag on a wet day by 80 odd points

golden grove B grade decent past two seasons. in 2008 undefeated thru minor rounds only to lose 1st semi then beaten in gf by 3 pts(game we should've won). then in season 2007 lost 1 game for the year to hope valley in which the game was shortened by close to a quarter due to bloke being taken away by ambo..

HV B grade has only lost 3 games in the past two seasons 2007 & 2008.
(1 x minor round, 1 x Grand Final to Golden Grove and 1 x Qualifying Final to Blackfriars ) all 3 games were in 2007. Very similar to GG in that we've both only lost 3 games in 2 years and both won a GF and lost a GF in those years.

We did beat GG in a trial game in 2008 to just tip the scales slightly in our favour

1985 - Hope Valley U15's, undefeated premiers. Sorry, that's all I've got. My old man said after the game "enjoy yourself tonight" and my response "I can't drink though." Thank god I've grown up.

Old Iggies B grade won 5 flags in a row from 1994-98. In those 5 years they lost a total of 7 games, with 4 of those losses coming in 1 year.

Im with you. I think 5 GF appearances in a row at the top level, their B grade has also produced similar in previous seasons

Henley in 2004 surely as a club thats the best effort. I think if you look at the records they won Div 2, 2R, 7, 7R,Under 15, 13, 11, 9...and the 17 side may have won that year.. was definitely the year of the sharks..
but goody saints as one side winning A1 four years in a row is a spectacular effort

Most Dominant season not seasons  .

Henleys 2004 seems to be hard to match. That was a dominant season by the whole club not just the a's.
