Also noted that their is the usual influx of players now coming in as a result of the draft

McKernan, Sloane, Lee, Young, Trengove, Banner and Davenport.

A good mix of talls and smalls to go around the clubs.

One for the Westies folk...Ruckman from St Kilda, Rix I think is his name, has signed with West, apparantly pretty handy.

With Feasty retiring and the high likelyhood Sturt wont have Fabian DeLuca next year, they are pretty low on big man stock so Jake would be a welcolme addition back down at Oxford Terrace for season 2009.

Didn't he play with Blackwood in the Hills league last season ?

yes

How did he go ???

Did he have a good year, play ruck / forward / both ???

He was probably the best big man in the Hills Competition the season just gone. Very handy to put up forward for a spell aswell.

If true a big In for Westies...Big call I know but has the ability to be the best ruckman in the comp. Very unlucky not to be on an AFL list still.

You were right about Birss Jackal so lets hope you are right about Rix.

Rix...may be subject to a couple of ''subject to''s. You also had Leigh Brown signed but he got drafted to Coolywobbles.

Yes i knew about brown which is a bit of a loss if you can call it that if he never played for us.

Rix is going on 28: too old to be re-drafted in this youth-obsessed year. Very big 'in' for West if true.

Wade Champion is another who could be considered a recruit for westies after having a couple of seasons out of the game he has by all reports been training the house down. I just hope that shoulder of his is up to playing footy. It would be great to see him back playing again as he is very talented and just needs a little luck with injuries.

The AFL WHOLE, needs to look at themselves how they treat our and SANFL and the other leagues kids

Has he been playing in his years out of the SANFL ???

I remember him showing promise a few years ago, hence being with The Power, but he did have a shocking run with injuries, especially that shoulder.

Not a hundred % sure but i don't think he has played at all in his time off. Between his hamstring and his shoulder he didn't spend much time on the park.

Will be a handy pick up UK Fan, will go very well in the SANFL

Was more of a crumbing hlaf forward when he played league with us before going to the Kangaroos but actually played as a running half back for most of his footy in the reserves coming through at Centrals.

Will be interesting to see where Roy plays him, probably part of the on ball rotation, we need a bit of leg speed in the middle with the Gowans boys another year older. Would also expect to see Eddie up forward as well though.

Will be a handy replacement for Elijah Ware who is leaving the club, some say for a year off, I think it will be for good. Probably doesn't have the right level of passion and commitment required and he and his wife are having a child so he wants time away from the game for that also.
