Radio Commentary 'Dream Team'

Postby Dirk Tazelaar » Tue Dec 02, 2008 12:30 pm

If you could choose 3 ball-by-ball commentators and 3 special comments men and a scorer for the radio broadcast of a test cricket match, who would they be?

Mine are:

Commentators
Glenn Mitchell
Jonathan Agnew
Harsha Bhogle

Special comments
Peter Roebuck
Kerry O'Keefe
Greg Chappell

Scorer
Mr Subramaniam

Glenn Mitchell
Harsh Bogle/Jonathon Agnew
Tim Lane

Geoff Lawson
Greg Mathews - he was sensational during the 2001 Indian series - different and inciteful
Terry Jenner

Jack Cameron

P!ss off Roebuck worst special comments commentatory ever. Too English in his outlook on the game, defend defend defend. Tries to pander to a psudo-intellegencia namby pamby audience in Eastern Sydney.
I don't mind O'Keefe but the others are better IMO
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Tim Lane
Christopher Martin-Jenkins (complete upper class pom, but I liked him)
Tony Cozier (mainly for the accent, but always very good)

Kerry O'Keefe
Mike Atherton (one of the best writers now going around and a great special comments guy)
Martin Crowe (one of the rare great players who is happy to have a crack at other great players)

Wendy Wimbush (she gave me her scorecards from the 93 Ashes tour and is a very nice lady)
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Is that so he can recall stories of hiring youngsters to work in his house? I hate listening to that self righteous (&^%(*&^

Rod Marsh and Keith Stackpole are probably my 2 favourite all time cricket commentators, i don't mind Greg Chappell either. KOK for some light entertainment too. Boycott is good for some controversy too.

Well sometimes kids need a good old fashioned spanking!

I sure as heck don’t agree with everything Roebuck says, but that’s one reason to listen to him. It would get boring if everyone was right (i.e. having the same opinion me) all the time.

He may be somewhat toolish, but Roebuck does write spectacularly well-formed prose.

.... intermingled with some incredibly ignorant diatribe. I have no time for him at all.
