Most annoying things we did as kids

Postby CK » Sat Dec 06, 2008 11:58 am

Got talking in the office the other day about what were those annoying things we did to each other as kids that wash over us now...stuff like saying "I know you are, you said you are etc", the "repeating" game (simply repeat what the other person says for ages) or any number of things..

Fire away :D
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

On raining night me and some mates would ride around and open the lids on wheely bins letting them get filled with water. When they reached a certain weight they couldn't be lifted.

In about year 9 Art class, we had a very patient teacher. To this day I feel very sorry for her though. We were always noisy, used to play around and do things like dab the corners of the table with thick paint then move them close to each other so that whoever passed would get wet paint all over themselves as they squeezed through, this is not to mention throwing things etc. As I said the teacher was very patient and she'd try all sorts of things to get us to calm down and actually do art, like play John Lennon music to us, reason with us, give rewards..all to no avail we were a real bunch of rotten rat bags. SO one day she lost her head at us, started screaming that she'd had it, what the hell do we even bother for? That sort of stuff, her face even changed colour whe was so mad, and just as she finished her rant, the class had fallen completely quiet through shock at her sudden force of emotion. She'd finally gotten through? Unfortunately for her, even before she had completed her first breath after her tirade, I lifted my little butt just a little to help give the required push and did this beautiful fart that sounded just like a French horn. It echoed off the walls in the sudden silence and was followed by bellows of laughter from every kid in the room. The poor teacher had a suddenly very defeated look about her. After the class about three of four kids claimed that fart as their own, as it was just so funny. Only I knew the truth, but I was too afraid to boast about it, and perhaps even then I felt a little guilty about what a roaring success it had at the expense of that poor teacher.

I used to mimmick the actions of my brother, drove him insane!

Slightly off the original topic, but in the same vein as the last post.

Me and my mates used to light jiffy's and throw them to each other and catch them.

Me and my best mate used to spend many days waterbombing houses from our bikes, our best efforts were hitting pets on the head or the best of all finding open windows with insect mesh which would splash the entire contents of balloons in kitchesn, bathrooms, etc, etc.
If someone did it to my house I'd freak and out kill the bloody kids!

Throwing rocks on tin roofs at all hours of the night, got a bit more selective with our targets after one irate grandparent drove around the town with a shot gun hanging out the window looking for us.

Filling letter boxes with "not so nice" contents.

Yr 10, 1/2 the class used to stash chalk under our desks before maths lessons and throw it at the teacher when he was facing the black board, IIRC no one got caught.

In primary school (Yr 5 or 6) a couple of us shoved potatoes up the exhaust of our teachers car for pay back to the grief she gave all the boys, her muffler blew up when she managed to start the car.

Not really kids, but college pub night was the same as bin night in North Adelaide. We used to kick every single bin over on Melbourne Street from the Lion back to Brougham Place.

A mate & I used to roam around a few suburbs in the middle of the night and "steal" people's bird baths and replace them in some one else's yard (usually someone we knew). Amazing how many people kept them and I know a few that even took them when they moved house....

similar story,

one night when I was about 19 or 20 wandering home from the pub I rearranged some wheelie bins on the way home some shifted upto 50m down the road or a block of town houses a different order to what the originally were in

Could list dozens of things here, but this one will do for now....

I had a mate who lived down the road; his next door neighbour became the target of our wrath. I have no idea why, or if there even was a reason. But who needs reasons when you're 13 years old? (or thereabouts).

One night we snuck into his front yard with a screwdriver and undid the numbers from his letterbox.

A few days later, some stick-on numbers appeared in their place. That night, we slunk across to his yard and levered them from the front of the letterbox with a pocketknife.

After a few weeks some more numbers appeared... this time they were painted on! Hard to pull off painted numbers. Nevertheless we weren't going to let this stop us. A few nights later we visited his yard once more, this time wielding some heavy-duty marker pens, and scribbled over the numbers until they were unrecognisable.

At this point the neighbour conceded defeat. The letterbox remained with scribbled-out numbers for years afterwards.

Of course I am prepared to deny all the above in a court of law ;)

Particularly in letter boxes or under old jam tins.
A group of us, as 8 to 10 year olds would go down to the local "house of ill repute" and through rocks on the roof, so the "ladies in nighties" would come out to tell us off...

growing up with 4 younger brothers i always used to annoy them by getting them all worked up just in time for mum or dad to walk in with them doing something they shouldn't have been and they get sprung and whinged that i had been doing it before them and they were just copying me. It used to annoy the sh!t out of parents as they never caught me doing it. I used to love doing that and still do it to the youngest two :D .

Cracking thread. TRB - SAFooty's best story teller!

I used to have an awesome home made shanghai. We lived in a valley with plenty of houses below us, so I'd get out on our balcony and fire marbles off into the valley and wait for the clatter on the tin roofs. In hindsight, soooooooooooo incredibly stupid and dangerous, but kids will be kids.

Another good one was a bloke down the road had a big place that backed onto a reserve. He had a dam filled with trout, which we'd regularly go and fish out. Had the cops called a couple of times, but they weren't keen on chasing us into the scrub on a hot summers day. They were obviously more away of the presence of snakes than we were!

One that used to piss me off, was after telling my sister to shut up, she'd say 'shut up yourself'. Well, if I wasn't talking or making noise, how the **** can I shut up stupid?

I was too damned scared of the consequences...

Nuns armed with wooden rulers at school and an Irish mother with very quick reflexes at home...either way if we did anything it was gonna hurt...a lot

Throwing peaches at the train on the farm and getting "locked up" by the local copper on many occasions
He would ring Dad and Dad would say leave em there til I finish what Im doing
3 hours usually!
Not fun for a 7 yr old but the coppers wife would bring up biscuits and drinks
