I'm Confused re Norwood, South and Glenelg???

Postby Wedgie » Sat Jul 29, 2006 9:03 pm

I've probably been to more games than most this year but I've witnessed South beat Port by over 100 points, Ive witnessed Glenelg be 90 points up on Norwood at half time at the Bay and I've witnessed Norwood being comprehensively the better team against North at Prospect today.

I'm damned confused, I have no idea which one of these sides will or deserves to make the finals this year. Can anyone help me??

I think it will all come out in the wash when we play the Yabs next week. We owe em big time after they totally cleaned us up last time. We've got the extra day to prepare too..now if only the Poower drops Thomas....

Well North playing a part in Glenelg getting knocked out of the 5 today in a VERY IMPORTANT result fo the Bays makes me feel a bit better!

Having said that, I'll be at the Bay tomorrow hoping for a Bay win to make North even safer in the Top 4!

Not a bad summary there mal, I can't disagree with any of that.
IMHO South rate up there with any side as far as ability is concerned but we all know football games aren't won with ability.
Good post mal.

None deserve it. There all as unpredictable as one another. I say go back to a Top 4. Any of these sides will be fodder for the remaining 4 in the hunt for that elusive flag. Not that it really matters but I think the Gays might just sneak in there.

Not a bad point ehl.

Serious question, when was the last time the 5th place side had a serious impact on the business end of the finals?

Norwood in 99 finished the home and away season 5th, and with 8 minutes to play in the GF were 2 points up.

it may all come down to percentage.

From a glenelg perspective, south dont worry us a great deal even though they stick to us for most of the game, they just dont like to go past. Norwood are more of a threat to us but id like to think we could dispose of them.

If we cant beat those two teams then we dont deserve to play finals.

these 3 teams are merely making us numbers and will have no impact in september

Port won from Elimination Final in 98.

I reckon Glenelg, behind Eagles and North, might be the smokey if they make it through.

Interesting that many times throught the 80's and early 90's teams made it from Elimination Final through to GF, 82, 84, 87, 88, 91, 92, 93. But doesnt seem to happen much these days - trend now seems for the loser of the Qualifying Final to hit back and win the First Semi.

as a couple of Port people have said on here that they are in danger of missing finals if they lose today, they lost today and they have a tough run home whereas the teams below them have an easier draw and superior percentage, so as MAL alluded too earlier if Port lose today they are in the mix.

Some of the port supporters today said that they wouldnt make the finals.

Add Glenelg's effort in 1974 as well.
