well deserved life member and about time
ON the life membership I agree test, well deserved. Could have left the club in the bad times of recent years like many of us but stayed on, a good mate and a top club man!

Sorry Tex, don't have a scanner here, I'll post it on here when I go to Uni next. I had a look at http://www.standardmessenger.com.au but it's not up there yet. Might be worth checking in a couple of days.

Don't know. A little while ago he said he was likely to stay at Kilburn if we stayed in div 3 but didn't want to play any higher because he is getting older and has been there and done that. So hopefully he won't go to EP. If he doesn't play for us he'll probably play out north with some of his mates in a lower div. He could have changed his mind of course.
As you would have seen when we played you when he got fit he was having a big impact on games. If he starts at round 1 he'll be a big asset to any team.
The Big Shrek wrote:I've heard an interesting rumour through some college boys in a computer lab at Uni. Apparently Henry Hardy of State U23 fame is looking at signing with SPOCs. This news went down well at the club until some genius realised that he wasn't playing out of the goodness of his heart. The truth came out and it was discovered he was going to get for $250 a game. This is causing a rift in the club. Many of the financial contributors wished for the money to be spent on equipment, geurnseys etc. They are not happy with this departure from the 'old scholar ethos' and serious questions are being asked about the direction coach Will James is taking the club.
as far as i've heard, hardy will play at spoc - and money is involved but not as much as he could've got elsewhere.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
Long time reader first time poster how are all the teams shaping up this year?
From here it seems that Kilburn are losing a few, and Portland may pick up a few on the player roundabout down that way. Look forward to some close battles again in the two's Felch with your mob. How do you think you'll go jumpin up a grade in the Bs?
Chatting to Rolfey from Iggies and he says Whiteman from Sturt has definately signed.
Have many teams been able to organise trial matches?
i know that teams are keen to head up to play in the Loxton carnival weekend over the 14/15 of March, good chance to have a few games and try out the new recruits against teams around the same level as yours.
Are teams going to have trial matches against other SAAFL teams or maybe have a crack at some teams from the hills/country leagues?
We are probably playing Woody South on the 7th of March, Kadina on the 14th, then a week off (Clipsal 500 weekend) and play PHOS on the 28th. All tough games.
We were all organized to head to Loxton last year until it got canned at the last minute.

No, not weird. It will give us a good indication of the level.
Probably wouldn't play each other the week before round 1 though.
not really a bad decision to play a team in the division you are coming into, especially since you guys are coming up a division. It may not be a fantastic way to see what Div 3 will be like since there will more then likely be players missing from both sides due to cricket/family/work/whatever.
Is that Kadina game home or away? I reckon playing a country team would be good, not just to see the difference between how city/country teams play, but if the games go well you go alternate between city and country each year for a trial game. not a bad way to put some money over the bar for each club

good points for both teams suri!!
I like the idea of going across having a game and then ehading back to the club and sinkign some piss with the oposition would be good for both clubs involved!!

Not sure if Portland will be able to compete with the master mind of Damon Head as assistant coach at Woodville South
