For mine in nearly 30 years of watching cricket, there's only one man I'd want batting for the country in a crisis ...

LOL - We went from 3rd bottom to 4th bottom or 3rd draft pick to 4th draft pick :( :(

Please Bombers/Blues /Hawks please pass on (Rolls) Royce Gibbs and let the lad come to the team he supports...

Border, Steve Waugh and now Ponting. Australian cricket is lucky to have such talented and mentally tough batsman in it's line up. Ponting would have to rate up there with the best of all time. As much as I love Steve Waugh, I would rate Ponting above him as far as pure batting is concerned. I think Border's legacy is that he brought toughness to the Australian cricket team and set them on the path to what they are today and have been for 15 odd years. I think Steve Waugh brought a love of the baggy green and it's traditions to not only his players, but a generation of cricket supporters, which will ensure the Australian cricket team and Test Cricket will continue to be strong in this country for generations to come and will not fold to the demands of the modern world.

I thought Border was mentally tough (and Grumpy) especially the turmoil we endured in the 80's

Ponting will be the best performed Aussie Cricket Captain of this era when he retires. I believe his record will be 2nd only compared to Bradman.
