Hope Valley will be looking to be competitive in Div 5 and consolidate ourselves in the new division. Finals always has to be the goal (or what's the point of even playing) and not getting relegated is the other, but we won't really know how we'll go till probably Round 9 when we've played everyone. We've had some new faces out before christmas and expect a few more when we recommence on Jan 13th. We have one definite out (Neil Partridge - Hectorville) who needs a knee reco and wouldn't have played for us in 2009 anyway. He is the only confirmed out at this stage, unless our friends from the GF come clean on another. Could finish from 5th-8th
WOS had a great side this year and deserved to be premiers. They have some good runners in Warburton, Marshall, big rucks in O'hara and Dyda and quality forwards such as Allen and Conway (if he plays in 2009). They will definitely be competitive in Div 5 and will look to win a lot of their games at home. A couple of recruits would top them up nicely and strengthen their depth, which is challenged when injuries come along (thinking of 2007). I'd expect them to finish anywhere from 4th-7th.
I hope no one gets on here and rants and raves about us (HV) or WOS thinking it's going to be easy. This is purely my opinion based on what I saw of these two sides in 2008. I can't take into account what the other Div 5 sides will be like, because I haven't seen them play. I can take some confidence out of Blackfriars and GG performance in 08 after their promotion, having played both those sides the year before. If WOS and HV can perform as well as what they did, both sides (at a minimum)should be able to remain in Div 5 for another season. End rant

Do you reckon!
Did he not coach St Pauls last year, played at TTG, Gepps, Salis West etc over the last few years?

Correct, don't think he was ever at Salisbury West though, but he would only play forward and not back lines as indicated by other poster, so you have wrong man on this occasion.

Scout, you came out and made a statement, I disagreed with it, so you throw in a few clauses. You said that "everyone pays, if it's on the books or off the books", that is what I was responding to. Of course there is going to be cash incentives for best players, A packet of chips and a can of coke doesn't cut it with blokes.
The cash incentives are to get people back at your club and reward them with a few drinks for their efforts. Some of our players get offered good coin to go and play in the Hills, Barossa or Adelaide Plains, they stay for the love of the club. The way we see it, if you're not going to pay ALL of your players, don't pay any.
We rely on the 200 plus juniors that we have at our club wanting to come up and play in our A grade.
