Not 100% true.

PV was 6 for 60 chasing about 190 and Simon Janetzki and wicketkeeper Brett Nottage put on over 100 and passed the score 6-down. If Joe Trimboli (SW captain) didn't start bowling his part-timers in a bid to get the overs in, it might've been a different story, but all it did was allow Janetzki and Nottage to play themselves in. Then when Glen North and the other opening bowler (name escapes me now) came back on, the bastmen were already set. Quite a few Div 1/A Grade premierships that PV should'nt have won during their 8-in-a-row in the 90's, but it's in the history books now..

......but they choke in GFs these days!!! so what happend GH??? Do they peak too early? Last year "Flag" should be very shallow indeed, as it should for all "winners"
on a serious note though, PV perhaps are living on those glory days and expecting to just win GF on history alone? They have a 1st class squad, they should be unstoppable as they are very tight fielding team. Bowling stocks are low....batting stocks high.
Big personnel changes from the 'glory days' BB, as you do in 10yrs..

Cossens and MacKenzie would be the only ones left from the 98/99 premiership, which was the last of the 8-in-a-row. Whole new team now. Can't speak on behalf of the current team, but having played in the middle 6 flags, we went into big matches expecting to win - very much like our SANFL team in the 90's. Our depth then was excellent then too and some of the players who played in those premierships are considered by their peers to be 'legends' of their era. Some names you probably wouldn't know, like Greg Hassold, Craig Eckermann, Simon Janetzki, Jason Maloney & Graeme Tscharke - all big-time finals performers and many of them All-Australians in National Championships. Throw them all into the one side and it was a pretty formidable line-up.
Let's just say many things were 'over-hauled' at PV at the end of last year. We'll see how that holds up when the real stuff starts. You just make sure you're still playing and not fishing when that time rolls around.
