3rd test if it goes bad and 2 nill down a smith might end up playing handy leg spinner and played as aussie spinner in last years 19's world cup, or i stay cullen will suit the aussie side better than his own state which its bowlers can't put any one underpressure.

Cheers & I agree. I don't mind Nel too much either and you can tell it's more about pumping himself up and getting himself going. I just think if a Nel type was playing he might be a bit counter productive and would help to get us fired up. They're playing a pretty straight bat out there and I reckon thats hurting us too. Aside from everything else I thought we were going to be in a bit of trouble once Warne and McGrath felt the need to get stuck into them in the press before the series. Says to me they both didn't have much confidence in us. I also agree they are perfect preparation and in some respects this series will sort the wheat from the chaff.

They would probably bring in a batsmen. Someone like North would come in at 6 or even David Hussey.
I really dont think they have any more options.

The only possible one would be Prince for Duminy. But you'd hope they wouldn't - Duminy was so calm and played some great shots, batting with intent. My memories of Prince are a stodgy, slow scoring bat. Prince has made a heap of runs this year, so it may happen.

Just saw on Fox Sports News that Siddle and Hauritz will PLAY, with Watson and Hilfenhaus left OUT.

Big gamble by the selectors.
We badly need a good swing bowler in the side so Hilf is called up and then left out

You must be kidding me.....They can't keep leaving a player with Hilfenhaus's talent out and expect to move forward as a side. His time will surely come soon, and gee they must really rate Siddle to stick with him.

Siddle is on his home turf, there is some sense in the selection, but I would say he'd hafta do well this test or Hilf will get the gig in Sydney.

Have the selectors thrown their hands in the air? Picking Siddle again, leaving out Hilfenhaus and gambling on the fitness of Symonds.

I have visions of us losing this test with Siddle doing nothing, and then in Sydney being replaced by Hilfenhaus who proceeds to have a fine debut, ripping through their key batsmen and making it 2-1, leaving us to ask why the heck he wasn't included when he could've made a real difference.

It's not so much Siddle's inclusion that upsets me as the non-inclusion of the Hilf, and I can't help but feel that it could be costly. Hope I'm very very wrong.

Perhaps, rather than some of the players riding on the backs of McGrath, Warne and co and now being found out as being not as good, it is the SELECTORS who have been doing this and are now being found out as rather ordinary. How many tough decisions have they had to make over the last few years? Maybe Langer in 2001 Ashes? Most times 10 out of the 11 have picked themsleves.

Fair enough Siddle is a reasoanble bowler, but doesn't seem to be anything special as to give a reasonw hy you'd pick him after a dozen first class matches before Hilf, BOllinger, Denton, Geeves who at least have some experience.

Selectors hang your head in shame. And get your heads out of your arses. Siddle is ORDINARY.

1/89 at lunch, Aussies doing well thanks to some ordinary bowling (especially from Morkel ... was that crap or what?) and some parklands slips fielding from McKenzie.
