Harness tips for Moonee Valley 4.08.06.........

Postby Dan Patch » Fri Aug 04, 2006 10:25 am

This is the first week (& possibly the last...gulp) of the $100 to $1,000 or Bust.......

For the Valley tonight,
MT Race-3....No.3 Mister Rhys $12......This is a hot field of 3-y-olds, but he should get a nice run. He is just below the top ones and his good price could see a good result. Bet...$5 x $15.

MT Race-5...No.2 No Joking $18......Has been just behind some good horses recently, and is drawn to be close up again. Should be good value. Bet...$10 Place.

MT Race-9...No.4 Hei Heir $6....Really bursting to win one of these, and he will not go around without my money. Only needs an ounce of luck (which he never seems to find) Bet...$10 E/W.

MT Treble on Races 5-6-7. Selections are 1,2 / 4,6,8 / 1,2,5,6,7,9. For $0.50, a total of $18.
First leg...Strauss looks the winner. Has Kerryn as a bonus. should win. Putting No Joking in as value.
Second Leg...Tougher than Cross Lotto. Have gone for Iliketofakeit (which I have done),Awesomely (because it should have won last week) and Blair John (who will win soon)
Third Leg...With six of the ten starters, I will declare we have the winner of this leg covered.

Harold Park...ST...Race-4...No.8. Fullaspeed. The best bet for the night. Can't miss a place (is that tempting fate) and is very classy under most circumstances. Bet...$10 E/W.

ST Treble on Races 3-4-5. Selections are 12 / 8 / 1,2,9,10. For $3, a total of $12.
First Leg...The Phantom Guest just wins. Will be short, and by itself is little value.
Second Leg...Fullaspeed will go very close, as already stated.
Third Leg...Only four chances, and we have them.

Total Cost is $100.....The whole of my bank. Well, this is $1,000 or BUST. As they say in the classics only time will tell. And after bayman & mal's efforts on Monday, when they tipped the entire card, I have a lot to live up to.
As usual, Good Luck and good Punting.
Trying to find the Holy Grail......

Good Question. Under Geoff Websters training in the last two months, he seems to be back to his best. Tonight will tell. On ability he is better than this field. My man Sunshine and Way up High will make sure the pace is on, and he follows them out. Should be no excuses. But it is strange how horses come in and out of form. Two and half years ago, Mont Denver Gold ran third in a NZ Interrdominion, but has really struggled since. Though last week he was only 2M behind Scruffy. We will know more tonight.

As for gossip, What a pity we are struggling here in Adelaide (in all THREE codes, not just Harness)
Victoria is booming, moneywise and horse wise. Though people still do not go to their meetings either. Their turnovers thru the TAB are still huge.
Qld. is booming, as they have the best horses currently. Blacks A Fake, Be Good Johnny & Slipnslide...just to mention a few. They have an enormous pool of fast class horses, and their Carnivals are well attended.
Perth have just outlined a massive expansion of Gloucester Park, talking multi-millions of dollars. how is it that they can be travelling so well, when they are on the "other side of the world".
Meanwhile Adelaide struggles for good fields, and our prizemoney is starting to look like raffle money more each day. I truly do not know what the answer is. Does anybody???

SA crowds.
There are a lot of people in the 40-75 year old bracket, seems
an insurmountable task to replace them in say the next 20 years.
I think the move in the 7o's to move from Wayville to GDP was
ok but I feel now its backfiring.
To me you need a younger bracket of people attending so now
you might be better of being back at Wayville ?
I hear stories from people that they used to knock
off work friday nites and meet up at Wayville.
Lets face it if I was a 21 year old again chasing skirts and punting
as well , then a location like Wayville[or victoria park] would be
ideal to visit both due the proximity factor.
We need younger people to replenish the industry.
GDP is seemingly out of reach for even diehards who live in the
deeper southern suburbs, town is a central location whereas GDP
is getting deepish north.
The people in the south have virtually nothing with GDP,GAWLER,PIRIE
all in the north.
Thats my views.

Yeah, AG I think you are right. In his brief five year racing life he has raced in SA, then Qld,back to Sa, then to Sydney, back to Sa,and now in Mekb. with Geoff Webster. Geoff needs a good horse to stamp himself in the Victorian scene. It could just be Scruffy. A bit like Safe and Sound did for Lance Justice.
If I am alive into that last treble leg tonight thougfh, I will be barracking for anyone other than Scruffy, because he will be the SA favourite.

Gee DP Fullaspeed cost us..... I told ya I dont like backing the 8s at HP.... never ever did it see daylight.... I still cant belive it missed a place.... I reckon a lap out it had a chance to roll off and grab the one-one... I may be wrong...
Master Rhys had a good trip and was a good EW bet well done... and No Trouble just had to do it to tough after getting a little further back than we would have liked....
Hei Here had a reasonable run but Columbo had all the favours and ran well. I thought it only plodded to the line... after travelling in the 1-1 and not doing too much work... it should have ran a drum.
Thank God for Scruffy!!!!
Back to the drawing board.!!!!
