Good luck to Patto, I never had any problems with him as coach, unfortunately as a playing coach he had a bad case of white line fever  , probably gave away more 50s than anyone else which undermined alot of what he was trying to do and I don't think anyone came out of 2004 (club or coach) with reputations enhanced. Well done to the Lions for having a coach in ready to kick off the new year, and I'm sure Patto will enjoy being in charge from day one.

We also understand that some coaches are not necessarily there to make friends as such but to get a job done. In my first year of coaching alot of calls were made for the team and not for myself. This is one thing that Patto never once sacrificed, he consistently started himself in the middle trying to run it out all day and as TBB pointed out he was very selfish with trying to do the changes from the field and not using any of the available help he did in fact have. To see stupid things like when MILO kicks a goal running into an open square and "the COACH" punches him in the back after he kicks it and gives away another free and another easy goal it is not a very good way to gain a reputation. So yes this is only one instance but believe me there were plenty and I have a very bad opinion of him, but in saying that it is my opinion and I do not rate him but no one either has to like my opinion one bit. But also in that I do hope for the Lions sake who I sincerely hope they do improve that Patto himself has learnt alot and is in fact better suited to help the Lions revive.

And Lion Heart people are not slinging crap on you guys as you always say, I have never read anything completely negative about your club only people being supportive and wishing you good luck apart from the light hearted stir ups I think you should chill out a bit. Good luck with Patto I look very very forward to playing against you guys in a great rivalry that already exists.

Correct, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Has it ever been that any of his 'inhouse' critics has actually sat down and had a discussion with him or is this all "behind his back" talk?
He may be grateful if a couple of senior guys went to him with some constructive ideas instead of spreading the word that he is a poor coach on a forum like this. The guy might just appreciate the help and advice, try it and see what happens.

Cock eye you have valid points and in no way am I trying to be on here slinging crap on him I do hope as I've said numerous times that the Lions improve aswell as Patto himself. But for me to hold the opinion of him that I do it is all for valid reasons and they are my opinions and I am more than happy to back them up, also all I have said on here he is more than aware what myself and a couple others think of him. I think it's great for a more heated rivalry I would never wish anything bad on him or them I would still love to beat them and it be a more competitive game because that only makes for better footy.

Enough of that though I wanted to share my opinion and that after all is what this forum is for so I have so I see no need to continue on with it.

We understand the opinion that some people from Aldinga have of Patto. We have spoken about his time there and even he says it wasn't his best time. He was thrown into the job and wasn't ready at the time admiting he had problems being a playing coach and deferenciating his roles as a player and coach, which even for an experienced coach is a very hard thing to do.
It seems over the last 4 years he has learned and matured alot, and im sure his apprentiship under Ando has done his coaching skills and even personal skills for that matter the world of good.
Remember Ando took Patto to Cove with him from Gazza so he must have seen something in him. Ando also personally recomended Patto very highly and no offense but his opinion holds much more worth to me than ex plyers from 4 years ago.
I look forward to having Patto take the reigns of our club, his organisation and planning already impresses me greatly. After having coaches that are to worried about being mates with players it will be great for us to have a coach that just coaches. All you ne sayers have the right to your opinion but i cant wait to start 2009 with a new coach and a new game plan. Sorry "A GAME PLAN", we made the finals in 06/07 with hardly a game plan, just on talent, look out in 2009 when we get our shit together.

Hope you all had a great Christmas
and
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Onka council ordered the removal of the goal posts at your ground.
Is this anything to do with the club not having insurance anymore cause of the school closing? or is there another reason?
Doesn't look good though.

The council did not order the removal of the goal posts, we are putting new posts in in the coming weeks, the old posts were not in good shape and our new posts are being painted at the moment.
Please don't make these suggestions it is not good for people that we are trying to recruit to read things like that.
Thanks.

No worries, I wasn't trying to create any controversy.
Had a mate tell me the posts were ordered to be taken down because of insurance issues.
He failed to tell me it was the condition of the posts that were the problem.

Agreed Mole what the hell the post achieved i have no idea. Can mods be banned??

The football club pulled the posts down about a month ago. They are being painted as we speak and im pretty sure they will be up in next couple of weeks. Bad news for goal sneaks in the forward pocket though as straight post wont help their cause

Very good turnout last night and the boys have taken to Patto like a duck to water.

I was asking a question, not making any bad accusations.
Isn't that what a question mark means???? asking a question.
Anyway, if someone from OSB/Lonsdale thinks that my question looks so terrible towards your club, just PM me and I'll gladly delete it.

Thats a statement mate, then you asked questions after that pretty simple, it just makes you look bad, no one else.
and Shoe Boy common knowledge is that the gound isnt run by the council and actually the education department, so what do they have to do with it. Only common knowledge you have is how to be way off the mark, maybe you and smithy could both be mods!
