I think this game highlights also how important Xabi Alonso is to the side.
Personally I'd like to see more 2 up front as well.
OK that means Gerrard is more central but he's too good to let that stop his goalscoring ability.

Fair calls, although I think the quality of Xabi is the least we should be looking for ... He stands out like Dogs Balls because there's no other creativity in the middle of the park (other than the times SG is there).

Mash is a very good defensive mid, but as I mentioned earlier, it's rare that he set's much up for us (excluding today and v Man U at Anfield earlier in the season).

Rafa and crew are going to have some tough decisions to make on where they see our future, and also the future's of Kuyt, Keane, Babel, Benayoun, Aurelio, Agger, Dossena, Lucas and Hyppia.

Based on his performance at the Lane this season, I'd happily have Aurelio at Spurs.

Agger is quality too.

Aurelio can be a bit hit and miss imho, he's certainly not a terrible performer, but I'd just like to see more from a player in that role ... Agger has the potential to be a stud, but as with most players who have that "X Factor" he'll make his blemishes too, not as stable as Hyppia at his peak.

Carragher, Skrtel and Agger all have a fair amount of quality, yet we remain vulnerable from set pieces, would that suggest the problem is more structural/formation?

You saying he wouldn't get a game at Spurs or nearly any other team (besides Man U and Chelsea)?

Torres was out for most of pre-Christmas aswell, so I don't think that's the reason ... Everyone will have their own version for Liverpool's current state of slump, and there's quite a bit to choose from so those versions could be markedly different.

I blame it on Keane. You know how those Spurs boys can bring down a dressing room.

Still take solace mate, he will soon be back at WHL.

With Chavski and Liverpool both blowing hot and cold, and Villa grinding out the wins, what chance of the Villans finishing 2nd this year ?

Liverpool and Chelski both on 48 poiints and Villa nicely placed in 4th on 47 points, Martin O'Neill must be quite pleased with himself right now.

Villa have seen off the challenge from Arsenal (seemingly) and must be looking at an auto CL spot as a real possibility now.

That would have to be a priority now for sure, he's done wonders with them ... Probably comes down to the remaining draw among the Top 4 contenders.

I dunno about hot or cold, I'd just say that at the moment Liverpool are just blowing.

I still dont think Aston Villa have a top four spot wrapped up just yet. IMO Man U will win, Chelsea second, Liverpool 3rd and a very close race for 4th between Villa and Arsenal. Maybe Aston Villa just taking 4th by a point or two.
