They're in Div 6 this year

How does that work, they finished 3rd????? Which team got scared and decided to stay down????? Poor form by them.

Houghton had the option of Div 6 but opted for Div 7 and Henley also had the same option. Both went for Div 7 in the end

Shouldn't get the option!!!! Hence the promotion/relegation system!!!! Trophy hunting by the looks of things, i hope they don't make the finals!!!! PATHETIC!!!!

Correct - Houghton were relegated finishing 10th in Div 6 & have also lost players, so why would they want to stay in a higher division that they struggled in 08, better to go with the promotion / relegation system, return to Div 7, regroup & rebuild. Henley played the Grand Final & lost in Div 7 & should be promoted, but as per SAAFL rules they have the option to decline promotion, which they have exercised & also being a C & D Grade side why would they want to compete in a higher grade against A & B Grade sides.
Mitchell Park coming 3rd in Div 7 would have been asked or maybe forced by SAAFL as the next highest side to go to Div 6 in 2009, which from what I saw last season they will definitely struggle unless they have recruited well, so could be a very short visit. So all have followed and acted within the rules and obviously made the best decision for their respective clubs, can't blame them for that even if don't agree.

With E'town leaving the SAAFL, I assume that will mean three teams will promoted from div 7? 1st, 3rd, and 4th? Or will a 9th finishing team from a higher grade get the option of staying up first?
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Well done. You have again shown everyone how much of a chapstick you really are. Now go back to your Div 5 thread so you can continue denying to everyone that Plympton don't pay players.

Seriously, this has been discussed ad infinitum.

Paralowie and Henley played the Div 7 GF and automatically go up.

Brahma Lodge (finished 9th) stay up because of the Edwardstown defection.

Henley decided they didn't want to go up, leaving Houghton and Mitchell Park as candidates for the final spot in Div 6. The reasons behind Houghton not staying up have already been discussed in depth.

From what I heard both McDonnell lads will be playing and the one who left has brought a couple of players with him. Not sure if it will be enough to make finals though.

Full Forward is very good and couple of hard running on ballers, but a lot of old blokes, one in particular was very dirty, sniping from behind, they need a good injection of youth or performance enhancing drugs!

The sniper is probably Lee Darrington, think he's 40+. But he's all in good fun, good bloke.

If you call getting king hit from behind good fun need to reassess your definition of fun or he needs to approach opposition players face to face so they know whats coming and can give him a bit of "fun" back. He needs to remember he's playing football not boxing.

You call him a sniper, but then say it is all in good fun?
Sniping is not good fun IMO, its weak and shows that he should have retired years ago when his legs gave way

I cant comment on the above incident as I didnt see it, but ive played against Lee a couple of times and yes, sometimes he can be a little dirty and does enjoy a good niggle, but most of it what ive seen from him is pretty harmless.

Well if you think sniping is not good fun, you should probably have a word to your mate Luke Hann. He's one of the best snipers going round.

Lee wouldn't quite be 40 yet (maybe this year, I can't remember how much younger he is than Scott)

Should have retired years ago? LOL, just like his brother

May not be same bloke, one I'm referring to played centre half back & didn't even go for the ball, just the man & hit the player at every contest.

Yes last year a member paid jim smith, but this year no member has put any $$$$ forward....... back to the topic..... no club should get the option..... play in a gf go up..... with edwastown leaving there is still space for 2 teams to come up... get of idiot!!

Houghton didn't play in a GF mate. If they finished bottom and are supposed to be relegated, they are not "trophy hunting", they are re-grouping and trying to turn their fortunes around and go back to div. 6 when they are ready for it and deserve the opportuntiy. Henley and Houghton are two totally different circumstances, one chose to decline an obligation, one chose to decline an offer.

I would like to announce that after discussions this morning the Houghton Districts Football Club and A Grade Coach Mark Kamenic have mutually parted ways in an agreement that is deemed to be in the best interests of the club. We wish him well for the future and thank him for the immeasurable time and effort he has given to the club, both on and off the field.

Ben 'Rex' Hunt has been appointed the new A Grade coach for this season.
