I think some of these clubs are taking playing in a higher grade for granted.

There would be some red faces if a side declined a D2 spot, then finished 9th or 10th this year in D3

Would be a tough ask to go from Div 4 to Div 2 Felch. Could do more harm then good jumping 2 grades and finishing in bottom 2 and going straight back down. Maybe this is the reason some clubs have declined the offer, they are being realistic with where they are at and think copping beatings every week doesnt sound like much fun

What im saying though is that playing in D2 in 2009 guarantees you a spot in D3 in 2010, at the very least.

Im not saying for one moment its a realistic option for us to be in D2 this year, but its one of the goals of our club to get there eventually.

There will be no 10 Team Competitions - End of Story. The League will not accept a 9 or 11 team competition so therefore they will move heaven and earth to ensure that it does not happen. As I said in an earlier post there will be a host of clubs who will WANT to take up the challenge and jump a grade or two and that maybe the solution. Trust me - there will be all 10 Team Competitions in 2009 - Clubs in lower divisions such as Golden Grove etc, etc have already told the League they will move up if no other teams take up the offer. Sounds like PAOC and Portland are two clubs who would take up the challenge anyway so end of discussion about 9 and 11 team competions as it just wont happen

I don't even know if Phil's on the board anymore, he's not the chairman definately. Would have thought Phil would like us to go up too.

Just Noboby, I might have to get my romantic tips from you. I heard you left a chocolate brown surprise on a plate in a lovely lady's fridge. No wonder they call you piggo!

Dont take my word for PAC - we would need Roo to bring a few of his mates and keep Johnboy and the Byners, plus pinch Scott Petersen off the Glamour Gang

Some of these posts trashing edwardstown and all other leagues in the state sound like they are coming from a girl who got dumped at the prom.

So they left, get over it, and move on.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Are you on the gear man? "There will be no 10 team competitons" & "The league will not accept a 9 or 11 team competition". Which one is it FFS.

Can anyone confirm categorically that Kilburn and Walkerville have been OFFICIALLY approached by the SAAFL to go up to div 2. I can state officially that the Para Hills FC has not been approached by the SAAFL and has only recieved an enquisitive phone call from Geoff Heard. We as a club would have to seriously consider the offer and make our decision taking in all the pros and cons, something that would take a bit of time. Surely the committee's of any club must involve the coaching and playing staff before making such a decision.

I can unofficially say that the SAAFL has told Scotch they can court other clubs to take their spot in Division 2 however if nobody takes it up they will have to honour their original nomination. The SAAFL has not contacted anyone, as far as they are concerned it is Scotch's problem so Scotch will have to deal with it.

You got the phone call because the others above you have declined. Look forward to more phone calls Monday/Tuesday. It was stated in the beginning that this week you would be contacted now that Kilburn and Walkerville have declined. May be later in week as everything is being moved to Thebarton right at the moment.

Dont worry - Geoff Heard will win anything with the SAAFL. Heard certainly will know every rule and legallity and constitution of the League, to ensure Scotch end up where he wants

1. Starting to look like Rotter is right and JN is wrong. Scotch are doing the rounds, not the league.
2. Salivating on the thought of G Heard v SAAFL - you district sides have run this League for too long

Not sure how long you have been around Jimmy but Heardy has been pulling strings for as long as I can remember. He was at the forefront of the old P1,P2 push. He was very heavily involved in the option of staying down a grade if you could find a club to stay up. He's still looking at ways of changing the salary cap system to something else. He is very good at canvassing for change. So I think this will just be another in a long line of "battles" he has had with the league.

It's not Kilburn's fault, they weren't good enough to make the GF so they can't be forced to go up. Edwardstown obviously created the intial problems by being soft, and Scotch have worsened it by going back on their word to stay up.

pag unley finished 9th and staying in div 4 are you saying that they have changed their mind even after all the big name recruits they have now got from glenunga
