Great Jas, unfortunately the death toll has now gone to 181 as the troops start to go through all the rubble in the safer areas, i shudder when i think what this toll could be :( :( :(

Yeh, I know Locky :( ...still the top news story here too.

I know you're not having a go or anything but I think we need the good stories as well as the tragic ones to help give people hope and keep things in balance and as the photo came from someone actually in Victoria (and thankfully safe) I reckoned it might help.

They are saying on TV that everyone is really overwhelmed with the amount of genoristy and support that all Australians, all states are pulling/putting together.... not only money but goods etc as well.

It really is a fantastic effort.

I'd like to ask all Victorian based SAFooty.net posters (and SA based ones if they have the time & money) to attend Friday's Western Bulldogs/Essendon NAB Cup game at the Telstra Dome.
All proceeds wil go to the Bushfire Relief fund and collectors will be in and around the ground.
I'd like to see at least 45,000 at the game.
My mate has booked tickets for a group of us (10+) tonight.

Here's a photo that has been put up on Facebook...I think it's incredibly powerful...to me it says you may be burnt and in tatters but you're still flying...pretty much sums up your Aussie spirit :goodman:

A bit of rain has helped, but with the warmer weather coming, could spell more trouble....

On a side night Caleb Tiller who was drafted by the Blues at the last draft, his parent's house was burnt down. Luckily they were in Melbourne for Caleb's 18th......

F*** Me, he gives a very compelling pro-abortion argument himself, I mean god help the world if he impregnates anything....

Whereas we can blame the disaster of his existence on the (anti) abortion stance of his parents. Tosser.

There's been some pretty naive statments floating about. Have a read of this chapstick:

Marty O'Neill writes: It is clear that the bushfires in Victoria have been devastating and much suffering has occurred. But, once again, I get mad about those people who live in "forest" or "bush" areas that refuse to insure their properties and then put out their hands and expect the rest of Australia to replace their houses from them.

They won't get a penny from me. I would rather donate money to the many victims of land mines across the world.

It begs the question though, are those who have insurance less likely to stay home and fight the fire, and were the majority of those who died by staying behind to fight those same people whose houses were not insured?
