Surely the league can waive the fees for a year to help out?

Money issue not ideal, its more about getting the behind the scenes help we need. More importantly the right people. If thats not there we will be in the same boat this time next year. There is probably only about one or two people keeping the club a float at the minute and we can't rely on them to help out through the year.

No violins here...they tried to buy instant success when all along they had a sensational crop of kids...the thing that is sad is that they may not get a chance to see this bear fruit.

A number of issues will be discussed as to how and if the senior club will go ahead this year.

A number of issues have led to this meeting. Money and stock gone missing, exact amounts not known but have on good authority it was in the tens of thousands mark.

Player numbers are low but not critical, would still think we would have enough to fill two sides. I am pretty sure that C grade has already been scrapped.

More importantly the big issue is volunteers. If no one puts their hand up to help on the board and all the behind the scenes work there will be no way the club will go on this year. I cant see the older boys letting that happen though.

F%$* That's bad, I hope all the boys rally around. Does the club know who the people were who stole all the money? If so doesn't the club have some sort of insurance?

Good luck tonight.
Any past, presnent players or supporters of North Haven Football Club get down to the club tonight and show your support. this is not a scare tactic or anything like that, it is a serious situaion and if nothing is done about it the doors will shut after the meeting tonight.

They didn't have a sensational crop of their own kids, a rather large chunk of them were from other clubs and unfortunately they have gone back or elsewhere again.

Even if they can prove it, they'll get a slap on the hand. We had proof and both blokes involved went to court, we got nothing back from it. Small business, they dont give a crap.

Bah Humbug!

This is not about trying to buy a premiership, it's about a club now in dire straights due to infiltration by a light fingered volunteer and struggling to find helpers.
They're not Robinson Crusoe in that area with helpers but for God's sake, they need help not ill founded criticism

And what large chunk would that be?

Lipson, Wareing, Mich Hood, Tyson Devries and Daniel Price all there first year at the club playing U/18 and Seniors. All the rest of the U/18 squad had played U/16's or lower at the club.

Would hardly say 5 is a huge chunk

Hopefully the players can rally and organise to all pitch in with a little bit of their time during the year. If every does a little bit, then one or two aren't left to carry a mountain on their shoulders.

We've had to deal with this for at least the last 5 years, you just keep ploughing through, the difference is, we've had no money to add to the woes.

There is a fair bit of quality in that list though. All those guys are/will be solid senior players (if they stay away from the Rammy on Friday nights ;) ) Without those blokes, your U18s wouldnt have made a GF, IMO.

Not having a crack, just giving a different perspective. There isn't enough kids on the peninsula for you, Port Districts and us to all have functioning U18s, simple fact. We couldnt get the numbers last year, so you guys reaped the benefits.

I think you'll find that hinsley played his juniors at districts before going to portland so perhaps get your facts straight before having a dig

The point being made was that Hinsley was not originally from Haven, so i think you just reinforced that.

By the way Steve, someone i spoke to from Haven who was of the opinion that the recruits they got last year from Port Districts (3 inparticular maybe ?) may have contributed to OB getting the axe last year, and if they had of pulled their heads in, the club would be in a better situation now.

Any thoughts ?

I was pointing out that the 5 mentioned were the only ones that were at the club for the first time last year. Hinsley may have played at Portland and Districts when he was younger but I'm pretty sure he had been at north haven for at least three to four years before that along with 85-90% of the U/18 crop last year.

Rory, Forry and Cara (if thats the 3 your implying) were all major contributors to North Haven last year, both on and off the field. Would not be able to tell you if they directly had influence on the sacking of OB, I'm sure as A grade players they would have been asked their opinion but to say they were the players driving the bus is a bit rich. They are only three of many who have left so it wouldn't have made any diffenece if they were still at North Haven.

Fair enough, i was only repeating what a highly-respected Haven bloke had told me. Basically, his view was that they got the coach sacked, then p!ssed off themselves anyway.

Im still interested as to what Super Steve has to say about it though... ;)
