More from Skysports

Chelsea have sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari, with Guus Hiddink and Avram Grant immediately linked to the Stamford Bridge post.

Sky Sports News understands that the club have already compiled a two-man shortlist to replace Scolari, with Hiddink and Grant the names in the frame.

Grant stepped into the breach following Jose Mourinho's departure before being axed at the end of the season despite finishing second in the Premier League and reaching the UEFA Champions League final.

Hiddink has been linked with a host of Premier League posts after his exploits as Russia coach, including reaching the Euro 2008 semi-finals.

One possibility is that the duo could work together, with Hiddink taking charge of team affairs and Grant operating as director of football.

NAMES IN FRAME

Following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari, Sky Bet make Guus Hiddink the 3/1 favourite to take over at Chelsea. Avram Grant is the 4/1 second favourite while José Mourinho is an outsider at 16/1.

Next permanent Chelsea Manager
Hiddink G 3/1
Grant A 4/1
Rijkaard F 9/2
Mancini 8/1
Zola 8/1
Eriksson 8/1
Mourinho 16/1
Deschamps 16/1

Wooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only a matter of time I guess, bit it's still a shock!
Those numpties from the Bridge are finally realising they are only a mid table club. It's beautiful to watch.
Hands off Mourinho, he's on hold for Spurs next coach!
Hiddink is a worry though, he'd probably win them everything. I doubt he could gain them respect though!

Rabble... rabble... rabble...

I seriously couldn't believe that news when I got to work and opened up soccernet as is my daily ritual.

Why don't clubs believe in stability these days?

Chelsea, Real Madrid, Sydney..........

Why anyone would even bother considering managing at these clubs I do not know.

Overly self inflated is a word that comes to mind immediately.

Think about it another way though, Scolari was in his mid 60's I think? Signed a 3 year contract? So after just 6 months of work, he's paid out his entire contract and can spend the rest of his life living in luxury on a Brazilian beach while he waits for another role, which if it doesn't come, will be no big loss to him. Well played.

But I definitely agree.....overly self inflated - without question. Unfortunately, 99% of people involved in top flight football suffer from this!

Scolari reportedly collected £4m as his payout.

Nice money for 6 months easy work.

Aussie Guus looks like taking over until the end of the season, he will be boss of both Russia and Chelski in that time.

Guus reminds me of a tradey who goes around doing "Ca$hies" on a saturday morning.

"look Guus having a few problems qualifying for the world cup / champions league, would you mind coming around and having a look at it - I'll reimburse you for your time...."

Chavski reported their year end resluts this week. Apparently a £65m loss, of which £35m was "compensation" packages for Mourinho and Scolari.
