Yeah well in Australia its soccer as it has been for 100 years and this is an Australian forum so get used to it mate.
There's only one football in Australia and that's the game where you can only kick goals with your foot, not with your head, your chest, your bum or in Maradonnas case your hand. ;)
And in these parts (ie the SOCCER forum) its called soccer, the F word should be filtered on this forum and if I feel like it, it will, just to help avoid any confusion. ;)

As a proud Sturt supporter... those 8 wooden spoons in succession would test anyone... so I won't be jumping off AU, but without doubt, they are really trying supporters patience at the moment.

Its just such a crash from the ACL semi-final win to now. Vidmar said there were some underlying issues at the club, so I'm wondering whether there's some disharmony there, maybe the Brazilians are pissed off Diego was sacked for example.

I don't have confidence they'll beat Queensland though... like CCM, AU are going into that game with bad form, while QR have good form, so that in itself puts AU right behind the 8-ball.

Ahh what a surprise, CCM are out of the hunt, so we'll bring back the "bring back Adelaide City" call.

Im not sure what CCM have to do with Adelaide City's proud finals record compared to Adelaide United's shocking finals record.
I just miss the days of this state having a soccer side that we could be proud of.

For what its worth I don't think its all doom and gloom as Im not as fickle as some AU supporters, I think they'll beat Queensland and have a 40/60 chance of winning the GF, soccer is a game of luck at times.

After tonight's performance, I have no rebuttal.

Well it seems big losses in finals at the Telstra Dome against Adelaide have a nasty effect on their managers.

Aurelio Vidmar has followed Kossie's GF 6-0 post match conference loss 2 seasons ago with an outrage of his own calling Adelaide a pi$$ant town and also blaming the loss on politics within the club.

"Because of a piss-ant town this club will never win anything, until you get rid of that crap."

Weird call as Adelaide City had success when this piss-ant town was even smaller. :?
His club might be a joke but why bring the city into it?

Time to get "The Master" Zoran Matic back in charge of a soccer club! :D

I have been following afl football since 1991 and have been disheartened watching this tainted crap in the last few years so i have been watching soccer(it is a round ball not a football that's why i will always call it soccer). following adelaide i have realised that i am disapointed with what i see when we play a final weather it be A league or Asian Champions league which i payed $40 a ticket. I seriously hope that Queensland beats us next week because i thing we do not deserve to be there and plus i know to many Victorians that think we are a joke. (maybe Vidmar should stop taking advice from Neil Craige and maybe we my stop choking finals like the crows).

you bunch 0f unresponsive whingers. when vidmar discusses the piss-ant town that is adelaide he is referring to the likes of you who just sit back and wait until something goes wrong and then open the flood gates with gay abandon. Why didn't you say what you thought when adelaide beat kashima over two legs or rivaldo's bunyodkor over two legs, because you did not think it at the time or did not have something to whinge about.
Whilst unlikely based upon the last months results, those who have bagged the reds had better hope their form continues and they go out in straight sets. If they do pull off a miracle and win it all i hope you don't celebrate and have the balls to continue bagging a team and coach that has acheived much more then any other team from adelaide in any sport (including city, who stuffed up there fair share of chances at home and away if i remember correctly).
I will be bagged for this but its what i think and i still believe united can win it all.

Cripple - sorry, despite the joy of the AFC, I have felt there have been deficiencies in Adelaide's line-up for most of the season.
I think these have been masked for much of the season by the AFC.
In November, I remember sitting in a bar in Melbourne watching Victory lose to Phoenix and then telling the bloke I was watching it with, a Victory supporter, "don't worry you'll still win the title".
Somehow, after all that AFC success, we're still not mentally tough enough. Our away performances this year, apart from the AFC have been disappointing.
I will back Viddy, he is only new to the managerial game. However, last night's performance needs to be called into question. Just because you support a club, doesn't mean you shouldn't question the players.
I'm sure they tried their heart out - so what does that mean in regards to their performance?

LOL. If they didn't have such a one eyed president toward the end of their NSL days they should've been the team. Adelaide Force. No-one to blame but themselves, and I was a City fan....

As for the game I can't comment as I didn't see any of it due to being at a Wedding. 4 nil is a thumping, and would've damaged a lot of ego's.

See what the game against Queensland brings, but I'm not predicting too much, as Queensland IMO, have the squad to take the title.

The smashed CCM, and I think their away record is fantastic, so they won't worry about travelling to Adelaide & then Melbourne. Cannot see a way out of the mire for the Reds unfortunately...

csbowes, some fair comments there. Glad you've finally found the Soccer forum.

Ive just watched Viddie's press conference, can someone enlighten me as to exactly what the politics and issues at the club that started about 3 weeks ago that he refers to?
He also seemed to include a journo (I assume) which seemed weird as AU seem to get a pretty good run in the media here, even today I was expecting something splashed across the front page of the sports about Viddie's outburst but they didn't even make mention of his extraordinary press conference so I would have thought he would be thanking the media if anything?
Was he referring partly about Cassio and his disgraceful behaviour last night?
Im also suprised he's given up when with 2 games to go anything can happen in soccer.
Or is it a ploy of somesort.

there is abit of backroom movement down at manton street ..

think viddie isnt happy at the moment cos of the way some of the players have been told that there not required next year ... he didnt want to do this till after the season

also a rumor has started on a possible new owner this has started since dario has resigned .

u might find there are a few fatigued players also ... this week will be the 39th game for the season and yes eurpoean clubs play more games but they dont have squads of 20 players either .

WEDGIE- the games is called FOOTBALL.. has been for the past 3-4 years .

... and that my friends is just piss poor.

Spot on. =D>

That second goal was soooooooooooooooo embarrassing it was amazing... how can four players, Dodd included, sit back, outside the box while that one knob walked in, took out his deck chair, had a read, then popped the ball in, un-harrassed.

Amazing.

Gobsmacking

Excellent posts csbowes. Summed up what I and a lot of Utd supporters think. Back to the drawing board big time for Vidmar and the "brains trust".

Australian Football codefied 1858 by Wills and Harrison

Soccer codified in 1863 with the formation of the English Football Association (we should have charged them for breech of patent back then)

We had it (the name football) first you got it 2nd your game is called Soccer to all those with a basic rudimentry knowledge of sports history...

And don't give me that crap about what the rest of the world calls it, 500 years ago the rest of the world thought the world was flat until Gallilio came long. One day the rest of the world will wake up to the real sport of football despite whot SBS and News Ltd think....

it aint rocket science...FFS
