Salisbury - not worst but least liked for amateur footballers on the beer and pie diet - too bloody big!

Plympton is really uneven, shocking cricket pitch and the oval faces the wrong way.
But i havent played on either since 2006 so dont know if they've improved or not.

But you love the little things about your own oval and you forget about the bad points. Nothing better than the old boys at the scoreboard bar or walking up the steps at dolphin park a winner after a hard fought game.
What are some of the good points of your home ground posters?

I love the fact that our oval (Pooraka) is always in good knick. Great size too. I think everyone that has played there will agree that the changerooms both home and visitors are nice and big. There is nothing worse than going to an opposition oval and have to get changed in their storage room or the back shed (North Haven and Adelaide Lutheran spring to mind).
It's also good that the oval has a fence around it. Can't stand ovals that extend on to paddocks or other ovals. You tend to lose where you are.
Always a good atmosphere right outside the club too.
I think the things you need to take into consideration when looking at how good an oval is:
1) Size
2) Quality of the surface
3) Surroundings (Fencing, grandstands, trees in the way (Pembroke))
4) Changerooms both home and away
5) Atmosphere
6) Layout (where things are positioned) i.e. bar, canteen.

Then came and shook my hand after and said well played. Your away changerooms are clean, but way way to small. I really like your scoreboard too.

was that last season footy follower??
thats how footy should be,everyone should be at eachothers throat then shake hands and have a beer once the sirens gone!
they are small, but because they are clean u can fit a side in there, ssquished they might be but there in there!!
Pooraka's changerroms are great, away showers could do with a little improvement though!

Haha, i think that runner may have been me...![]()
Visitors rooms are tiny, but we only had limited space available when we built the new clubrooms. It had to fit on basically the same site as the old Rivvies building, so obviously preference was given to home changerooms, and other things like umpires room, storage rooms and trainers rooms had to be squeezed in.

Flipper wrote:I will try doing an honest account of dolphin park
1) Size - I personally love the bigger grounds. Would probably be medium size though
2) Quality of the surface - Clipsal 500![]()
3) Surroundings - Parklands, can offer a bit of protection from the wind. Dont think the council would let us make a public access road around the parklands side and put up a grandstand
4) Changerooms both home and away - Nothing fancy but always well maintained and room to move around.
5) Atmosphere - The scoreboard bar all the old boys drinkin cheap p!$$ and cheering u on i love it. Up above the sheds next to the stairs is a good place to watch the footy good view of all the action.
6) Layout - Oval faces the wrong way. Canteen etc in suitable place.
IF not a fan of the small oval and changerooms but everything else is spot on. FF Pooraka away changerooms not quite up to scratch but I know how difficult councils can be. Pooraka being a former Div1 club u get good oval/facilities.
I have two other points i know not as important as the others listed
1) Finding a car park
2) Finding the oval

Only problems I have with Portland is the size of the changerooms (although they are well-kept), and having the club down behind the goals. The other end doesn't too have a whole lot of atmosphere with the club situated where it is, but in general, I like playing there. Awesome canteen too, and we had some jugs put on after which always sweetens the experience.
