Sounds like every Club has improved their list bar Kangarilla. Hills Country (div 2) standard will improve again thanks to one man, but the negative is how long can these clubs survive trying to keep up with him?

I would expect Maccy and Gums to improve greatly but still can't see them moving much higher on the ladder. By the sounds of it, Cheque Book Valley is putting a scarey unit together.

I'm interested to learn if TV have aspirations to play in Central competition, or are they happy to be the big fish in Country.

To play in Central you need to commit to entering all junior teams. If you can't fill a 13, 15 and 17's you can't be in Central - would this be a problem for TV ?

The HFL points system is the problem for them. If it wasn't in place they'd probably be able to give Mt.Lofty a good run!

It seems they have the biggest 'benefactor' of any HFL club - but that doesn't help if you can't field all required junior teams

Without that points system they would flog everyside outside league and reserves footy considering GH would probably just triple his budget. Good move the points system.

I don't know if anyone remembers but, Torren Valley had Every grade apart from B grade in the Grand final Last year.
Torrens Valley U17's Won the Flag
Under 14's Grand Finalist last 2 years from Memory.
So looks like the juniors are coming to the club and they are successful.
How the Juniors would go in Central Division is another thing - most likely get flogged week in week out.

Juniors would be alright going by Birdwoods results in Central. B's would get slaughtered as that has the biggest gap between divisions, but really, who cares?

I understand that one of Birdwood's biggest reasons for moving to Central was to ensure better competition for their juniors (primarily cause they would be assured of a game every weekend).

So I return to my original question - do TV want to be promoted to Central or are they happy to dominate Country ? What are they thinking ?

Heard a rumour, and i stress just a rumour, that GH wanted to field a side in Central that had no affiliation with TV that would be known as HUGHESIES LIONS a couple of years back. Dont know if that is at all true. I would think that Central would be in their thinking, however some of their players may be a bit over the hill for central right now so not sure how long it would take for them to become a force with the points system. They would however be competitive and middle of the table right now i would have thought.

Danielle (as we call him) is a very very good player and worth a pretty penny - he is on 350 a game plus a 50 drink card and petrol here and there. There's another recruit on a little more, club couldn't afford to add Wade Harrison and with Danielle and Rankine don't really need him.

Callington have a coach. He is Wayne Gilgen and used to coach Redlegs in RMFL. They started pre-season 2 weeks ago. No idea of numbers out there; can anyone enlighten us? Does anyone have any info re this guy?
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.
