Trouble with your articles, is they are somewhat biased towards Kapunda, which is only natural
You do take the liberty of making a rumour into something sensational
You have rubbed a couple of clubs the wrong way
Therefore i think info coming out to you from these clubs would be some what limited
Can i ask, what is your " Football Background "

G'day footballfollower. First of all let me thank you for your constructive criticism. Hope you were smiling when you used my last name there.
I have always tried not to be biased toward Kapunda (you would be referring to the match reviews here), but I will take on board the comments of a couple of posts here that I have been biased.
To a large extent (and the same has been mentioned about Mike Teale and Angaston) you are in a no win when you write about your own side, as any praise is seen as bias, but that is the nature of the job. I will monitor my reviews more intensely.
Regarding the rumours, I repeat that I am one of only a few who has the courage to put them in (Peter A will put one in on occasions, Fast Eddie also) and rumours by their very nature are sensational, yet they are never sensationalised in A Sporting Chance! They are put at the end of the column and usually take up only one paragraph.
As I said before, I only take them from people I respect, and I believe have knowledge of what they are saying. It keeps my readers at the forefront of local football news.
I, Peter, Craig Dawe, Mike and Fast Eddie have ALL upset clubs at some stage or other! (I have upset Kapunda!)If we haven't we wouldn't be doing our job of keeping the local footy public abreast of all issues.
You would be astonished at the info which comes out of clubs to me, by people who respect the way I treat it. Suffice to say I don't actually print everything I hear.
On to my footy background: Disregarding school football, I played junior (15's and 17's) and senior footy for Kapunda (no A grade). Let me be blunt and say I was an ordinary player! LOL.
Coached junior footy for five years and have Level One accreditation.
Cheers!
As I reflected back on how I hesitated for a second before walking into the lion's cage carrying a leg of lamb, I thought to myself .......... I've got to do something about this lack of confidence.

Normo while everyone is giving you a lashing of roman proportions, i will add my 2 c.

i find your reporting is generally sound and informative and i congratulate you for this, however more consideration should be given to the risk your 'rumors' or 'truemors' can have on the club when you are reporting about percieved internal or player retention problems.

In such a competitve market it is hard enough for clubs to retain good local players and remarks about player negotiations in my opinion only serves to inflate the ego's of the leagues best and put pressure on the club concerned.

Perhaps a way to build a better relationship would be to ask approval of the club to print the 'rumor'.

I ask what are you promoting to the juniors in these off-season rumors? the way i read it, your promoting players that go chasing money or another club as note worthy in our league.. wrong values in my honest opinion.

Perhaps an article on the Under 17s that have graduated and are looking forward to their first full season of seniors would be more constructive for the clubs?

i'm only one reader, keep up the good work.
The writing is on the wall - learn to read and you might survive

Normo stop taking everything to heart this is just a rumour & discussion site at the best of times. Now that you have responded your knockers will just bait you along and right now I think you have taken the lot hook line and sinker, even the rod. Personally I have no problems with your articles, in fact here's one for you. Check out that Freeling may well be looking at an ex Blockie player that went OS last season but cannot fit back into the Blockie outfit now due to the import allocations taken up. God help us if the Blockie's do manage to fit him in.

Thanks Pinch, Skip and Ump. Again - good, constructive stuff.
No one needs to worry about me taking things to heart, as I have in fact started to really enjoy the cut and thrust actually! My responses have been made simply to balance some rubbish a couple of not so well informed posters have put up.

Anyway, for the first time, I will share some of my inside knowledge with the forum (which is what the forum is for, after all!)
Look for a BL&G club to make one, possibly two big signings in the next few weeks. The club has asked me not to print anything yet, so I won't, but if it snares both of these blokes you can put its name in ink for the finals. They have not seen a lot of finals in the past few years (and it's not Kapunda LOL)
Details soon....
Cheers!

Toronto - I'm sure that the box heads won't let him go that easily. They will find him some extra loop to keep him happy, maybe even find him a job at Foodland. LOL.
Skipper - With your square head contacts, do you know if Kieboom and Baird have commited for another year?

I would think the man would be Taylor and yes a warning to all parents "lock up your daughters" if he does venture into Freeling town. Realistically he probably does not have a lot to choose from in Freeling so he will have them covered by the second round.

Duke not too sure on Kieboom & Baird, from what I have heard (mainly off this forum) that the Blockie outfit is almost unchanged. That would tell me that they are staying but I will look into it for you.

Tanunda wouldnt let Craig Taylor go, they paid a substantial amount to get him released from his contract at Sturt.
Be some very irrate sponsors if this would happen.

I have heard and also saw on the clearance website that Freeling have recruited 11 or so players. Anyone know anything about these inclusions, apparently a few are mates from the Riverland. Definately lost a bunch as well but apart from a few (ie Muster) most of the others would be close to being dead wood anyway, also retained the services of a few that thought may move on. Could sneak up on a few sides and may not be the easy beats as predicted.

In regards to the possibility of Craig Taylor coming to Freeling from Tanunda. If Tanunda wont let him go as a required player why dont they play him then ?
Answer : they cant fit him into their import allocation, so then how can he be a required player ??, especially if he wont move into the area. mmmmm could be interesting !

Drifter I don't think there is any mention that Tanunda are not going to let him go. Tanunda's position is that there are no import spots available so unless he moves into the area he has to find another club and from what I have heard Tanunda will not hold him back. Craig is a great lad who would be a great asset to any club in this comp and Tanunda will not get in his way if wishes to move on.

Under the pack. True Freeling have picked up a few, but check out Nuri,
13 in and only one out. Some handy additions to.
Have also heard that a certain high profile indigenous lad could be taking bounces down the ground at a certain goalpost that leans on 45 degrees at Gawler this year. I hope he can fit into the changerooms
