my heart wants the Reds to win BUT my brain says Melbourne should win......

one thing is for sure, Adelaide SHOULD NOT lose 6-0 or by a ridiculous margin.

We've lost six in a row now to the Victory- surely it's our turn to win one! And fingers crossed it happens in the GF.
But honestly, where are the goals going to come from? For us to win i would think we are going to have to score at least 2 or 3, because I can't see Melbourne not scoring in 90mins of football.
Please Viddy, DO NOT sit back and go into the game with a defensive frame of mind! The Victory WILL eventually break us down. We have to attack from the get go and hopefully jag one early and shut their crowd up and put them on the back foot- I think this is the only way we will win.
Play with two strikers- we have nothing to lose VIDDY!

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Spot on (and mypaddock) we must play attacking football. Get Ago & Cristiano on up front. Doddy on the right, Cassio on the left, Barbiero & Salley in the middle. Jamieson, Ognonovski, Cornthwaite & Mullen down back.

Reid misses out on a start but will provide valuable steel in the second at some stage. Same for Pantellis. He get's pushed around too much by the big bodies of Victory, so his fresh legs in the last 20 would be good.

Go United !!

I can see Viddy instructing the boys to keep it 0-0 in the first 20-30 mins at whatever cost. So this means getting behind the ball which is unfortunate for everyone that wants to see United on the attack. I cant see him playing 2 up front from the kick off. If the Victory get on top early then there might be no turning back.
I think we need Reid in the side for stability and he is also a calming influence on the ball. I agree about Pantelis being good fresh off the bench, just hope the game isnt over by then. Victory also have a stable and probably more experienced back line which will make it hard for united.
Give Dodd the ball wide and let him run at them. Can see a few tackles missing their mark if this happens, and United might get their best chance from a dead ball situation.
At the end of the day if the boys keep it 0-0 and snatch a win in extra time or penalties then the defensive approach to the game will be forgotten and it will be party time.

What about playing Reid and Salley infront of the back 4? Cassio on the left, Dodd on the right and two strikers?

I have been a big advocate of us playing 2 up front throughout various stages of the season but if we want to win on saturday then we should only play Cristiano on his own. Poor Ago is shot and i dont think would provide us with any real scoring threat.

We have to play similar to the Qld game by working hard to limit any clear cut melbourne chances and either nick one from a set piece or a piece of individual brilliance.

i would bring back Cassio for this game. He has been cack since returning from the ACL but could be the one to unlock the victory defence.

Does anyone know a good pub in the Adelaide CBD to watch the grand final :)

Casino a bit pricey as far as drinks are concerned, Coopers Alehouse showing the Rugby. What other options are there?

I was at the Lakes for the last GF, so no chance I'd venture there again for it ... Have a birthday-do to go to that night, so might hit the Leg Trap as it's nearby.

GW, the Rosey would go off for it and be a great experience (especially if we get up), but I reckon there would be plenty of pubs in town with Foxtel showing the game ... Of you could watch it from the Crows tavern at AAMI while keeping an eye on your local mob? ;)

The elephant is also good and is home to "the red army" IIRC, although most of those guys would be heading across for the game. Get in early on the couch and you would be set.

Where the heck are Adelaide going to get two goals from.

Also if Adelaide give Thompson and Allsopp the chances that they gave the Queensland strikers the score will be 6-0 again.
