It appears that Henley must have found a massive oil well down there somewhere. My info is that at least 12 ex league footballers have signed on this year.

Before you get on here bleating like Goodies that "they're playing because they love the club, the jumper, the coach and every blade of grass on the oval" I won't believe you!

Having another crack at 'buying one' eh?

Ive always wondered CC where the hell this club gets its $$$ from.
I'm not yet sure whether to jump onboard with the bandwagon of supporters & talk premierships this early in the year knowing the same happened last year & Henley dropped out in straight sets at the most important time of the year--FINALS!
A very embarrassing way to go out after dominating season 08 & listening to their own COCKY supporters blowing their trumpets on how good this side is. Well nothing will change to be honest, if they couldn't win a final spending $50-60K then it looks like they'll be losing another $70-80K in 09.
Keep signing up those old injury prone players from the SANFL (Eagles) Henley & watch your youngsters dissappear from the club in no time & venture to greener pastures.

When he's out there he looks pretty good.
His employer has just switched premises and they've been working o/time to catch up so he's only trained on Thursdays for a few weeks.

Looked to host a trial game on either the 20th (friday night) or 22nd (sunday) of march. Looking for any team, in any grade, in any league that would be keen for a game. To find out further details PM and i will pass on all relevant infomation to the club.

Cheers

My intuition or some past knowledge of the 3 people involved led me to post this on the SANFL forum under WWT arrivals;

Duane Schultz (North Adelaide) an interesting lad who played last season at Gepps Cross and finished in the top 6 B&F.
I can't see him playing A grade and I'm not sure he'll hang around to play Reserves. I wonder what arrangements, if any, have been made between the player, Ron Fuller and Flinders Park coach Sean Jackson if he decides that the Eagles is not his best option?

I wonder if I am reading between the lines a bit too much? Has there been some underhanded work done because Duane had two cracks at North without any luck, maybe I'm over reacting or is it that I just don't trust a couple of the trio?

MM, no not bitter at all, I reckon more concerned that he may have been coerced into believing that League footy is still his best option. In my opinion he will not play regular (if any) league footy at the Eagles. At Gepps we have done everything imaginable for him, he's had 2 tries at North Adelaide and both times came away disappointed. My concern is that when he doesn't make league and gets disheartened again, he may be told to go and play at FP and that will keep him under notice with the Eagles.
Maybe, as I said, their is a bit of mistrust there with a couple of people within the trio. I've seen and heard this all before with many other players.

If a lad wants to keep trying to play at the best of his ability in the SANFL, he shouldn't be told he's not good enough from an amateur club who wants his services.

Well bugger me!

How on earth did you come to that conclusion?

Nobody is trying to tell him anything, he'll make his own choice so I suggest you re-read the post and maybe digest what has been written, there is absolutely no reference or innuendo about trying to dissuade from having another go.

From reading your post, you're saying he shouldn't even bother being out at the Eagles and should wake up from his dream and settle with Gepps.

From reading your post, you're saying he shouldn't even bother being out at the Eagles and should wake up from his dream and settle with Gepps.

A generalised statement that could be referring to anyone and anything

Rubbish, where in the post did you find that? You are making an assumption on what you think I may be thinking.
What I'm saying is that IMO he will not play League footy (whether it be at the Eagles, Souths, Wests, Norwood) based on what I've seen of him over 3-4 years. I'm also very aware of what some clubs do to bolster the stocks of clubs within their zone (ANJ did it when at NAFC with Gaza, Weed did it also) so it may not be out of the question that Ron Fuller suggests that Schultzy goes to a club like FP as he and Sean Jackson are mates, then he will have a greater opportunity to be noticed. This is the oldest trick in the book and is normally put to juniors.
Never mentioned anything about him not bothering to be at the Eagles unless it's written in "invisible ink" or maybe you're just in the habit of twisting things to suit yourself.

None whatsoever, this was thrown around late last year, I think Chris did go for a holiday in Jan. but unless it was a mirage, they were at training last night.

Henley are stocking up on plenty of ex SANFL players this season.

One of ABBA'S biggest hits, "Money,Money,Money"

Anyone care to tell me why when this subject is aired, only Gepps & Salisbury North names are mentioned, I think you'll find a few others have pushed to the front of the queue in 2009.

It also appears to be upsetting the locals no-end!
