Final's a Breeze

Don't profess to know much about the World game but if what I just witnessed was worth a Red Card, then Matthew Breeze is on Merrick's Xmas card list with plenty of money inside the envelope!

There's another Yellow from Breeze, Christ, was he bashed when he was a child and now he's trying to get even?

Pathetic decision. Absolutely no need. Nothing in it and AU already had the free.

I was just saying on the GF thread, that this is the 1st game I have seen this year in the A league, and the ref is poor. I thought they were bad in the UK but this is lower league quality stuff. Is h really the best ref in Aust ?

I even get the feeling that a couple of the Fox Sports commentators might, for the first time ever, disagree with the decision.
Has there ever been any thought given to a "referral system" upstairs for decisions such as that red card blunder?

We have that in the UK alrady Cockeyed.

Problem is, you can get a red card reversed but it does jacksh*t if you lose the game.

The ref has destroyed the game as a spectacle.

What makes it a shame is that the ref had already decided it was a yellow. He had already pulled the yelow out of his pocket. So what could the linesman possibly have seen that the ref didn't, to make him change his mind. The challenge was full on to the ref so he would have seen exactly what happened and I would hazzard a guess that the ref had a better view than the side on view the linesman had.

If the liner thought it was such a bad challenge then why didn't he raise his flag at the time ? It definitel looked like the linesman influenced the ref. P1ss poor imo.

I am convinced that Ref Breeze and his cohorts are intimidated by Muscat to the extent they favour Melbourne at all times, I know jack sh*t about soccer but this is so obvious it ain't funny!

Was it Slater the commentator tonight who said he had better be quiet before he said too much about the red card decision? Does that mean no negative comments about the refs is the go?

yep it was him, but we had our chances. we should hold our heads high as we played a great game creating chances under duress, just failed to hit the back of the net with the few decent chances we had.

Why did Breeze go to his assiant he had a yellow card to go to give Christanio, the assiant Ref made him change his mind. Breeze is a joke. There should of been a penalty in the box when Oga was pushed

Im no AU fan as most know but that decision was an absolute disgrace and anyone involved with it be it the linesman or ref should be sacked.
To completely stuff a GF up with a decision that bad so early on is terrible, it wouldn't happen in football and it shows how far soccer is behind as a sport in this country when it comes to being taken serious.
I'm not sure what's happened in the last decade but refereeing was a lot better in the old NSL, I wonder WTF Donald Campbell thought of that decision last night.
Surely if there's any doubt give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
Still that's soccer, a bit of luck or one bad refereeing decision can stuff up the entire game.

geez Wedgie, I agree with that !

That decision completely altered the game. IMO at that stage United were all over Melbourne. We had to then completely change the way we went about it.

How a linesman can over-rule the ref, when the ref had already pulled out the yellow is beyond me. Also the linesman would've been on the BLIND side. I think Muscat getting in his ear and the fact the claret was flowing made him change his mind also....

disgraceful refereeing all night......LIFT THE STANDARD FFA

Im in absolutely no doubt that because a bit of claret was spilt they changed the decision.
It'll get to the stage where soccer players will be like pro wrestlers and take a razor blade out in their shorts in the future to give themselves a little cut to sway the refs.
I'm still absolutey appalled by the decision so I hate to think how die hard AU fans feel about it.

lets not vent all our fury at matthew breeze... he was going to issue a yellow card for the incident but then was called over by the linesman ( matthew cream who is from SA). this little fu&*er explained what he saw and therefore the red card came out ....thanks to the little fu$%ker from south australia.

hope he has a seat next to sasha on the way back to adelaide..

Surely the main man has the final say!
Even more reason to bring in the "referral system" of going to the replay. It's available so FFS use it to keep the game away from p^ss poor decisions whether made by the ref or a linesman who's not quite good enough to be a ref.

I've been thinking about this a bit since it happened, and I reckon it's possible the Ref had some pre-meditated plans if previous protagonists Christiano and Vargas clashed at some stage.

Later on there was a one footed studs up challenge (granted the ball was in the vicinity) far more worthy of a Red Card than Christiano's was.

Must admit, I can't recall being prouder of the Reds ... I know you can't accept defeat, but man they really gave it a shake with a very brave performance.
