OK the form for the teams UNDER 30 points, for the past 6 games;

Hull City only picked up 2 points
Newcastle 5 points
Bolton 4 points
Portsmouth 4 points
Tottenham 5 points
Stoke City 4 points
Blackburn 7 points
Middlesbrough 2 points
WBA 7 points.

If this sort of form continues, then WBA may climb out of the zone, as may Blackburn.
Hull look in danger of dropping down if their form continues, as do Boro.
Throw a towel over Pompey, Spurs, Newcastle, Bolton & Stoke.

Following on from Jabbers post, here is the table with the season so far points and current form points.

Figures are: Season Form, Recent Form
1 Manchester United 88.9 98.0
2 Liverpool 81.3 80.0
3 Aston Villa 77.0 83.5
4 Chelsea 73.7 68.5
5 Arsenal 66.1 66.1
6 Everton 60.8 63.4
7 Wigan Athletic 50.9 53.5
8 West Ham United 49.9 55.1
9 Fulham 46.8 45.4
10 Manchester City 46.6 51.8
11 Sunderland 45.6 49.5
12 Hull City 43.3 31.6
13 Newcastle United 40.0 40.0
14 Bolton Wanderers 40.0 37.4
15 Portsmouth 40.0 33.5
16 Tottenham Hotspur 38.0 34.1
17 Stoke City 35.7 30.5
18 Blackburn Rovers 35.6 39.8
19 Middlesbrough 32.4 24.6
20 West Bromwich Albion 32.4 37.6

So United will win at a canter but as for the bottom 3, it is eithe gonna be WBA, Boro and b4st4rds  or Boro, Stoke and Hull.

Oh I do hope it's the 1st option.

Funnily, only boro appear in both options.

Ok a few results that helped the relegation battle on the weekend.
Stoke picked up a point, Blackburn and Boro picked up a vital 3. West Brom are goneski !!

So the bottom 9.

Sunderland 26 games played for 31 points
Hull City.....27 - 29
Tottenham. 26 - 28
Newcastle.. 27 - 28
Portsmouth.26 - 28
Blackburn... 26 - 26
M'Boro....... 27 - 26
Stoke City..27 - 26
WBA..........27 - 22

Blackburn and Spurs have a game in hand. Think Stoke and Hull will be the teams to drop along with West Brom.

One of the harder relegations to predict. Stoke are certainties to go down. Pompey arent setting world on fire WBA are alright they can still climb out of the drop zone. Hull have rapidly come back in the mix. They may go down.

Oi you, behave yourself. ;) Don't read anything into the b4st4rds beating Hull. On Hulls form of late Stevenage Boro would get a point at the KC.

Hey JTC, we've actually had a lengthy period of good form post the Ince regime. Given that we SHOULD'VE got a penalty against Man U, we may actually be better positioned with one game in hand. Hull are still ordinary. I have a mate who originates from Hull and even he couldn't believe the way they had been playing - till recently. Now he believes!

I don't know that you should have received the penalty in that game mate, but I do no for sure your bloke shouldn't have played for one when he was in a prime position to shoot 1-on-1 with the keeper ... The Blowse get's no sympathy from me for it ;)

Newcastle is the big smokey. What is there to like about them? At least West Brom and Stoke will fight to the last - they have the stomach. And that is what it's all about at the bottom.

Not that it's any help but here is the head to head table for the bottom 8. I have not included Bolton or Spurs. personally I thin k they both have too much fire power and will be safe.

Team PL W D L GD PTS
1 Cats 11 6 3 2 +11 21
2 Pompey 9 4 4 1 +1 16
3 b4st4rds 11 4 5 2 +6 17
4 Tigers 10 3 5 2 +1 14
5 Toon 11 3 4 4 -1 13
6 Stoke 9 2 3 4 -5 9
7 WBA 10 2 3 5 -6 9
8 Boro 11 1 5 5 -7 8

So the head to head form (which invariably determines life or death in the EPL) is true to form. Stoke, WBA and Boro have performed poorly against the teams around them so it may well come down to how many points they can pick up against the fringe teams, Wigan, Bolton, Fulham, Man City and Spurs, assuming the the top six won't drop too many against them.

Funnily enough, against the top half of the table, Stoke have come out pretty good, whilst Bolton, who I didn't include in the list have faired pretty poorly. Boro on the other hand would be comfortable in 9th place in the league, above City and Fulham.

Here's the form table against the the top half

Team PL W D L GD PTS
Boro 15 4 4 7 -8 16
Tigers 16 4 4 8 -16 16
Stoke 16 3 5 8 -13 14
b4st4rds 15 3 2 10 -21 11
Toon 15 1 7 7 -11 10
Wigan 15 2 3 10 -12 9
WBA 17 3 1 13 -25 10
Pompey 16 2 3 11 -17 9
Bolton 16 3 0 13 -18 9
Cats 15 1 4 10 -18 7

Finally, here is the current form table against all sides based on the points gained from the last 6 games

Team PTS
Man U 15
Pool 13
Chelsea 13
Everton 11
Spurs 11
Arsenal 10
Bolton 9
West Ham 8
Stoke 8
Fulham 7
Man C 7
b4st4rds 7
Tigers 6
Toon 6
Cats 6
Wigan 6
Boro 6
Pompey 5
Villa 5
WBA 2

Apart from Villa's freefall, no real suprises here with only 3 points separating Stoke from Pompey. Only WBA looked doomed.

So what does it all mean. Absolutely nothing  Anyone can beat anyone, and no doubt there will be a few "upsets" before season end.

For me, it will still be Boro, Stoke and WBA for the drop. Hull will have to wait until next season.

The "40" point factor has kicked in for a few more teams;

Everton, West Ham & Fulham have 40 points or over so would be safe.

Spurs & Wigan have 38 so very close to the "safe zone".

Unreal that 6 points is all that separates Man City at 11 from Newcastle at 18.

OK, really cranking up now.

Man City played 32 for 38
Bolton 32 37
Stoke City 32 36
Portsmouth 31 34
Hull City 32 34
Blackburn 32 34
Sunderland 32 32
Newcastle 32 30
Middlesbrough 32 30
WBA 32 25

Out of the bottom 10, Pompey have a game in hand with 7 left, the rest have 6.

Wigan & Spurs have hit the 40 point "safety" barrier so DA can breath a little easier.

Stoke have only dropped a game in the past 6. Drew 2 won 3. Currently the 6th best form side in the EPL.

The two worst sides are Sunderland (1 point from past 6) & Newcastle (2 points from past 6).

SIDE NOTE:Villa have only picked up 2 points as well....what a fall from grace !!

If the sides perform like they have in the past 6 games, for the next 6 then we'll see
Sunderland, Newcastle & WBA relegated !!

Watch 'em go nuts Tyne side in the Championship
