You'd think while they had the opportunity, get a reasonable sized clean up crew in there to pull out the cars trolleys etc. before they pump the water in next week

Just to think last Saturday night at the soccer us Melbourne fans were singing "we are the city by the Yarra, we are Melbourne all the way". And the Adelaide fans were telling us how dirty and rubbish our river was.

But your river is underneath the rubbish and dirt all the time, even when it's full of water. It's upside down!

And the papers over here periodically remind people not to swim or canoe in the Yarra due to heavy metals at the city end.

IO went for a walk around Torrens yesterday, very amusing watching those useless Adelaide Council workers trying to remove shopping trolleys from mud. I think they need to as said before, drain lake completely, get a earthmover in there and scrap lake clean (might find some missing people as same time -Beumont Children) and then refill with fresh water and start up a annual milk carton regata there. I think this is a goldern opertunity to make some right of this embarressing (for council) wrong!!

Time to get funky. Piss the Torrens off all together and turn it into one giant Skate park. Invite Tony Hawk down to Adelaide a la tour down under and Robert's your Mum's brother you have another world class event in the great 'SA Skateoff' instead of a 'pissant' river. REB for Mayor get on!

the way you slaughter the Queen's English, I wouldn't be pointing the finger at anyone.... good on the ACC workers for having a crack- maybe instead of a slow ass-like laugh at their struggle, maybe you should've helped them?

I heard that even a small amount of rain if it flows down from the hills will be enough to fill the lake- Will the rain over the next few days do the trick??

Malfunction my ar$e, the lake was full of blue green algae so it was easier to let it go 'cause all these experts have got no idea what to do to fix it.

Unless it's quite substantial rain (more than 20 mm) I really can't see it happening. Even the hills are pretty dry at the moment and if it's just drizzle and showers it will just soak into the ground.

So light on for rain is Victoria that the ABC reported an SMS received saying that it is pouring in Stirling in SA, and expressed hope some of it may get here soon.
Normally SA doesn't get much mention.

I'm up in Bridgewater at the moment and it's mainly been drizzle rather than a couple of heavier showers. As I was going to lunch I did notice a bit of runoff going from the roads and into the creeks so it might flow into the torrens!

Now they are reporting the Lake is basically full again after the rain that was received yesterday. Apparently they need to check the water quality before the boats can start up again.

It's raining steadily here, and when I got in the car this morning about 9.30am the on board thermometer told me the outdoor temperature, here at 570 metres above sea level, was 8.5 degrees C.
