To be honest, footy god, I don't think his statements have anything to do with sour grapes.

On one hand, it may seem like he's making St Pauls the hunted, but perhaps you need to look at it in another way. Word gets out that St Pauls are looking like putting together a couple of very good teams and it brings out a few more (have a look what it's done for Brahma Lodge) that used to play or are mates of players looking for a bit of success.

There may be some added pressure from his words, but what does it matter of they've gained good players and depth from it.

With that being said, I don't think St Pauls will be well ahead of everyone else in the top five. The top five will be very evenly contested.

On a side note, how are you guys shaping up this year?

Pretty good. Only a couple of big losses (Starry to Greenies, Dow to surgery), and pretty much the rest have decided to stay. Couple of players have returned after a year or two off, some new faces too. With these additions hopefully it means I won't have to play a key position and get a bit more freedom to run around

He'll always be a Houghton lad. The gutsy bastard played all last year with fractures in his hand and has to have bone replacement surgery. Might have him back for finals

Sounds like Houghton will be in for a good year this year. As I have mentioned before I believe they will be a top 4 team and will be prominant in the finals this year even with the loss of Starry.

North Pines had an internal last week and have another this week I believe. Some good contributers in the internal but im sure the boys will be looking forward to playing their proper trial games in the coming weeks and seeing how they go against other teams.

Any other sides in div 7 got any trial games coming up. I know that Ovies are playing Brahma Lodge in the coming weeks but not sure when or where?

Incidentally, work has begun on piping the creek and turf will be laid over the top, which may leave room to widen the oval.
