I think Dennis would rather us work hard at improving at training, have a good hitout to see where he thinks individual players would be best suited to playing in the regular season and not risk losing some players to injury before the season even starts. Not 100% if thats his thinking but thats the impression i get.

being a new coach to the club i'd want to play as many trials as i could try new faces in different positions and try and perfect what game plan you have been working towards at training.

Our trial is a 6 qtr game where i think a lot of players will be tried in different positions. Obviously Dennis has done some homework already and must have an idea as to what he wants to see. Half our As for this year would have likely played under him at McLaren Vale so he'd have an idea of how they play. The boys that keep their spot from last year (hopefully im one of them) will no doubt get a decent run on the 21st.

That is a good point. But Denis has the support of the whole club and at the end of the day he is the A Grade coach, and the final decision stops with him. The game against Uni is a 6 quarter one so he will be able to try the players where he wants and have enough time to move them around a bit.

Just putting up his hand for the Hackham job makes him a great man in my book. Denis will do it his way, and all power to him.

Exactly. Not many people would do it. And hes committed to seeing it out for at least a couple of years. Hes a smart man. He knows that one season is not enough to turn a team around.

D1
D1R C4
D6R

D2 D2R
D7 D7R
C1, C2, C4.

You will probably play D7, D7R with possibly a few from C1. C2 and C4 are the farmers and scum and I doubt would travel down to doctors.

i dont think its to really challenge us. its to see what people play like. if we dominate, thats good signs that we can work well together. if we're around the same mark, we will know that theres a lot more to work on.

theres no point us doing what we did last year when we played Flinders Park in a trial before they went on to win As and Bs Div 3 premierships. It just makes the morale go down after we build it up over the preseason. then go into round 1 expecting to get smashed. i know id rather enjoy a game playing against C4s then go out and get smashed by a top side again. we've had enough of that lately.

im not 100% sure if its the C4 side we're playing. might be able to update you over the weekend.

Yes, Flinders Park was a bit foolish.... I would have thought trials against Div 6 - Div 7 would have been more appropriate? Even Kennilworth in Div 5, who I believe have most junior sides

Ive just been told by someone at Uni that we will play the Div 7 team. There are 5 teams below this team so there may be a mixture of players from those lower teams as well. So i think this is Adelaide Unis 3rd side afte A2 & A2R

As far as I know, Adelaide U operates D2, D2R, D7 as A, B, C grade.
The remaining grades, D7R, C1, C2, C4 are stand alone teams, often with a shared interest, i.e. Farmers from roseworthy.
