Government Funding for Local Clubs

Anyone out there now of any upgrads ear marked for their club and what are the plans for the money.
i know Angle Vale are apparently getting a huge sporting complex built.
North Pines or Paralowie are getting something done down there, Elizabeth are also getting some cash ($150,000).
Whats the goss people?

Booze, if the heirachy did things right out there, you should be having money thrown at you left, right and centre because of your extensive junior program. ..Add to this the fact that the club is in what would be classed as a "disadvantaged" area...and any state or Federal grant would be as good as yours.

Unfortunately note true FC as an old commitee member who watched Elizabeth get $70000 nocked of debt by the council (apparently not just once)whilst EP had no hot water,average facilities and have been in the black for years. The way it seems to work is if you have someone on the council you get grants if you don't stiff shit. Or get in heaps of dept suck to the council lose all dept and then get a grant. Must work for them they now have a grant to do up the bar which should have a lot to do with junior sport in the area.

Successful Grant Application
The League is to receive a grant of $108,800 from the Commonwealth government and the
grant is the over 3 times the biggest grant every received by The League. The total amount
will be spent on improving the technology facilities in clubs. At the moment, we are
investigating the best deal and solution that fits the technology plan for The League. The
good news is that every Member Club will be getting a new computer, hopefully before
the commencement of the season. More details will be circulated at the Delegates meeting.
The grant was from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and
Indigenous Affairs under the Volunteer Grants Program 2008.

Kilburn + grant = community gym

Gepps X + pokies + TAB = money handed out in envelopes Saturday night.

I find it infinitely more honourable to get a government grant to create and improve facilities for the benifit of an entire community than to fleece poor people of their earnings through pokies and other gambling, then buy players.

I'm sure the GX players love the Rudd handouts, it goes straight through the pokies into their pockets.

Getting people to like me is not part of my portfolio, they can please themselves and I wasn't aware it was a popularity contest,doing a job at the club for 20+ years is.
With regards to grants as the original post is about, due to the fact we have poker machines excludes us from grants, however, as you people would be well aware and as has been stated in an earlier post, having someone on the 'inside' obviously helps as it has for Kilburn. I am not saying it's wrong but it does open up an area for conversation that some people get very defensive about, not the least you. We can't even get anything from the council to assist with our lights now due to the 'economic situation' and all council grants have been frozen. With regards the prickle patch, that was before my time and I reckon you guys might have started off on something similar, you haven't always had the facilities you have now. Answers to every other clubs problems, I wish I did and an opinion on something not even you with your infinite wisdom can stop me having.
In fact I reckon all the prickles we had are currently on the back of your neck, your history is fantastic and I have never challenged that ,so come down off your high horse and see the lighter side of life for a change.

We too are taking a socially responsible pathway, as evidenced by the things we have had as Community events over the last few weeks. Nearly $5k for the Bushfire Relief Appeal and this Sunday's event for the W&CH are not bad for a start.
With regards Council grants, we were all geared up for new lights for next season with their assistance but for which we needed to contribute a fair proportion and council advised us yesterday that all future works are now on hold indefinitely (up to 10 years), only work in progress is to be completed so that buggers that idea.

With regards the comment about "Giving and not taking away from the community" and having 3 pokies, am I right in thinking then that if someone loses $100 on the pokies, you give it back to them?

That's called helping within the Community. When PAEC agreed to waive the o/standing debts a few years back,of which Kilburn was a major benefactor, that was something that all clubs had to "sign off" about and forever look towards helping the community, whether you have pokies or not so please tell NW we're doing our bit too! And without the help of Uncle Grant!

NW, you have a problem, not sure what it is, however can i suggest you find another piece of 4x2 jarrah about a metre long and put it on your left shoulder, it'll match the one on the other side.
Incidentally, history is fantastic provided you don't use it as a crutch, it'll only keep you upright for a certain time.
I also just happen to know Joe Rack quite well, he loved his envelope after a game, kept him going for a while. A great guy Joe, and he doesn't tell porkies!

My comment to NW is based on his post to me, quite personal so surely my opinion that he shows the traits of somebody that has "a chip on his shoulder' can be put so he/you can either take it with a pinch of salt or he can continue the slanging, I don't care.
