I'm not a big fan of the way they have drawn the 1st round of heats, with horses seaded 1-36 being put into races..

BUT with Heat 1 having, Blacks a Fake, I am Sam, Smokin Up, Cincinatti Kid, Our Malabar - it's by far the strongest heat...

The weakest heat will be number 3 with Mister Swinger, Fluer De Lil and Power of Tara (without the G Harper influence)....

I'm going to have a small e/w bet on Mister Swinger ($18 / $5.25) and Fluer De Lil ($51 / $13.50) in the final and even more a place. They are the 2 best value sit / sprint horses and will have very good points from the 1st round of heats, making them almost certainties to make the final...

Anyone unsure what I mean - take a look

Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

Cant go past blackie. Hes the best stayer ever in the history of Harness and will grind down the reactor regardless of draw.

Changeover and Iron Hudge will be around the mark.

Cincinatti Kid possible cheeky place bet

Yes, very tough respectable pacers and would include Westburn Grant in this category. Blackie will confirm this status at the end of month.

Righto blokes, So in all of his 2 million in stakes he didnt sit 3 wide in any big races? What about the ones at Gloucester Park? I realise he his style was working to the front and staying there but for the most he did what he had to do to win.

Prelim final draws Interesting.
Heat 1: Between Decorated Jasper & Changeover. Decorated Jasper should win especially from the 1.
Heat 2: Should be an absolute showdown. Tipping smoken up then Iron Hudge. 3rd is anyones.
Heat 3:Blackie has tough task, Washakie will go forward and will most likely win. Kid and Blackie to place.
Heat 4: The reactor will def win from 4 only contenders are Karloo mick and gotta go cullen, the remainder pretty much have no hope.

My selections for the heats are:
Heat 1 - Tip Your Hat to lead throughout
Heat 2 - Mr Feelgood but maybe a bolter coming home if the speed is hot up front - Franco Liberty
Heat 3 - Blacks A fake (In Monaco to lead and Blackie to trail him to the sprint lane)
Heat 4 - Auckland Reactor
July 11th 2012....
